Missed miscarriage - still bleeding after 3 weeks - advice please

I had a miscarriage in October at 6 weeks. It bled for about 4-5 days.

We fell pregnant again in January and had positive scans at 6 and 8 weeks. At thirteen weeks the heart had stopped and I was admitted to hospital for the tablets and a medical miscarriage. Bled heavily overnight and was kept in hospital. Next day light bleeding and was discharged. Two days later suddenly heavy bleeding had awful cramps, again admitted over night to hospital. Scan picked up more tissue but they didn’t want to operate. Two weeks on from tablets I had a check up scan (light bleeding over those two weeks). Scan picked up tissue still there so admitted 3 days later for operation. All went well, was told everything gone, would have bleeding but would taper off. Also give antibiotics. Operation was last Monday (23rd), had light bleeding until Friday when started getting clots again. This has gone on all weekend. Feel exhausted. On iron tablets for anemia. Rang hospital and they wanted me to keep an eye on temperature but it’s not high so no infection.

Am I worrying over nothing with the bleeding still going on, all in now 23 days? I don’t want to keep ringing the hospital if this is normal? Help please!

Hi, not really got anything helpful to say but didn't want to read and run.

Have you contacted your hospital again? How's the bleeding now?

Sorry you're going through this. Flowers

Thanks for your message. I did go back for a scan today (I put it off as I didn’t want to waste their time). Turns out the D&C didn’t get it all. The senior consultant doesn’t want to operate again and wants me to wait another week to hope it comes out naturally. Back on more antibiotics and waiting to check hormones next week.

That really, truly sucks. I'm so sorry. But at least you have an answer as to why you are still bleeding like that.

Are they keeping an eye on you for anaemia? What's their reason for not operating again?

I hope all this is over for you soon. Hugs xxx

Still bleeding, mainly if i go for a walk or do anything active (I had to move offices at work on Friday). I am hoping if I do a bit of walking each day it will speed things along. I have been on iron tablets since they sent me home after the tablets as I lost so much blood. I don’t think I am anemic any more but taking them as a precaution as I’m still bleeding and clots some days. Only 2 days till I back at hospital. That will be almost 5 weeks, although they did say it can take up to 6. Seeing my fertility consultant a week Monday so if it’s still going on I may ask her advice. Thanks for your comments x

For anyone reading this later I have just had a second surgery as my hormone levels are still 17. This time they did surgery with a camera. The consultant showed me the pictures, before and after. There was still something left which he has now removed. Looking forward to putting this behind us now and seeing my fertility consultant tomorrow to discuss options for trying again x

Neece81 I'm glad to hear you've had a second surgery. I hope you're recovering well and that your body gets back to normal quickly now.

And good luck with TTC again. I hope you have a healthy pregnancy soon.
