First pregnancy after only funded icsi cycle having miscarriage

So after lots of reading on many of your posts I decided to write one myself. I am 5 weeks pregnant after our first and only Nhs funded cycle. Unfortunately since Thursday I have been spotting Brown and then it turned to red blood. My cervix is closed which is something but I have had bloods taken and if they don't double it signifies miscarriage. I just feel so lost I know it could be much worse as it could be further along but I feel so sad especially as this was our only cycle. Has anyone got any advice x

Hi Claret how are you? How did things go? I assume you've had your blood results back? I'm so sorry you are going through this. I'm hoping you have had some good news. On my first ICSI cycle I had an early miscarriage which started with bleeding not long after getting a BFP. It took a few weeks for my beta levels to come down and for the miscarriage to be complete. I felt devastated after all I had been through and then for this to happen it felt so so cruel. I went on to have another 2 cycles and had a little boy from my 3rd ICSI cycles.
I have since been trying for another and have recently done my 5th cycle. I got a BFP but started bleeding a few days later and it's all looking very similar to what happened with my first IVF. I'm due to have my second beta test tomorrow. It's such a horrible thing to go through and I hope you have answers now as to what is happening either way Thanks

Unfortunately I have miscarried the line has all disappeared now on the test which is so sad. We don't have any other nhs cycles so I think we will take this year out and then make a decision as its so much money. I am sorry to hear you are going through this also and hope that it isn't over for you

I'm so sorry Claret, there's just no words really for how unfair it is. I hope things work out for you whatever you decide to do in the future.

Thanks for the kind wishes, I'm still in limbo of massive bleeding but my beta has doubled. I can't see this ending well, it's just a waiting game now though Sad

@NoCupcakesOrCocktails - I used to be twinklestar, think I recognise you from the Egg Buddies thread?

I'm really sorry to hear what you're going through. What was the outcome? I think the same thing is happening to me - got a BFP last week and beta levels aren't doubling.

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 08/04/2018 20:30

Hi yes I was on the egg buddies. Did you have Twinkle in your name then? If so I remember you! I'm so sorry to hear things don't seem to be going well. How many betas have you had so far?

Unfortunately I bled heavily for a week. At first my betas did double for the first 4 tests. Then they stopped and dropped very slightly. My bleeding then stopped and I went in on Friday for a scan. They saw a gestational sac and yolk sac but no fetal pole. My levels have stayed at around 700 for the past few days. I've got another scan in a week to see what is happening. No more bleeding so a natural miscarriage doesn't seem imminent. I've no idea how this will all end but obviously it's not a viable pregnancy. The waiting is torture.

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 08/04/2018 20:31

Sorry just seen you said your username, I'm not with it at the minute

twinkledag · 08/04/2018 20:40

I'm so sorry to read what you're going through @NoCupcakesOrCocktails. It is torture especially everything we go through to fall pregnant in the first place.

My first beta wasn't Tuesday and was 128. Fridays was 135. Next beta tomorrow morning.

I can't believe you're having to wait, that is awful and such a mind fuck,

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 08/04/2018 21:10

I'm sorry Twinkle Sad they are very similar betas to my first ivf. What have they said to you so far? Yes it seems so cruel after having to go through so much to get pregnant in the first place. I had one glorious day after getting that BFP of actually believing this was it. Is this an ivf pregnancy too then? Mine was a FET which is the first one I've done. I never got any Frosties until my last cycle. How are you holding up with it all? It's so stressful x

twinkledag · 08/04/2018 21:27

That does not sound good for me then Sad. They've advised me to go for one more beta so I know whether to stop the medication.

This is an ivf pregnancy, yes. I had a fresh cycle in July 2013 which failed then a successful FET in Dec 2013. Have a lovely 3.5-year-old DS Smile

Failed cycle in Dec 2016, failed FET March 2017 Sad. This is a fresh cycle with a new clinic abroad.

You've been through so much Sad

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 08/04/2018 21:45

Oh sorry twinkle, I worded that badly. When I had similar numbers they did say they needed 3 to get a real picture of where they were going so you are defo not out yet. I did did find some success stories online of slow starting betas so will be keeping everything crossed for you.

My DS is 3 soon and a loveable terror Grin I had a fresh cycle in October which didn't work but I got 4 frosties. We have pre paid for 2 fresh cycles so have at least another 2 transfers hopefully then that will be us done. I've been ttc for 9 years 😳 will be pleased to throw the towel in however it ends to be honest. How has the treatment abroad been? Hope you've been able to enjoy a mini holiday as well at least!

twinkledag · 08/04/2018 21:49

Thanks, I am praying for a miracle🤞

Who are you cycling with?

It was a break from work rather than a holiday TBH. I suppose at least the weather was warm.

How old are you? I'm gutted as this baby would've been born in time for me to be 40 which is my cut off point, feel like we're running out of time.

I hate this shit!

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 08/04/2018 22:12

I'll be praying for you too Twinkle 🙏

We are with Care which is who we used when we got DS. They have a satellite clinic really close to my work which is super convenient at least. I'm 37, I was married fairly young ish and wanted to be a young mum. That's a joke! I know I'm the same trying to calculate how old I'll be before id have a baby if it worked

twinkledag · 08/04/2018 22:19

Thanks, I'll let you know tomorrow's outcome.

Have 2 in the freezer, but we transferred 3 this time which makes me think if this doesn't work out then what hope do the other 2 have?

Sad
NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 09/04/2018 11:15

Good luck for today Twinkle 🤞

twinkledag · 09/04/2018 14:00

The results came back at 55 so not good.

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 09/04/2018 14:17

Oh I'm really sorry Twinkle, it's a shitty rollercoaster Sad be kind to yourself and do anything that makes you feel even slightly better. I'm planning on wine and a hot bath after my appointment of Friday confirms miscarriage xx

twinkledag · 09/04/2018 14:20

That sounds good @NoCupcakesOrCocktails. Please keep me updated with what's happening with you Thanks
