How long did you wait for your first AF after MC?

Hello,

I was wondering how long you waiting for your first AF after MC? I was advised it would turn up 4-6 weeks later but i'm now on week 7 and there's no sign. I know everyone is different and it's not guaranteed you would get it before but I can't help but feel a bit anxious and frustrated by being in this limbo.

Has anyone else experienced the same?

I didn’t have one, I was pregnant again immediately after.

Hi Pumkin Patch,
I think (but don’t know!) that perhaps it depends on how far along you were when you mc?
Maybe call your gp if you’re worried?

@MadameJosephine that must have been amazing. I'd love that to happen to us too.

@Coffee3 I wasn't very far, only 6 weeks and at the time of the MC there was actually nothing to be seen on the scan and my hormone levels were tiny. I'll probably wait another week and then speak to the GP if AF still doesn't appear.

I am sorry about your loss, have you done a pregnancy test? My period went back to normal after an early loss.

MadameJosephine · 24/03/2018 16:08

It was certainly a bit of a surprise. I had a complete miscarriage at 6 weeks after 5 years of ttc and then waited and waited for AF. When I got a positive test again i thought it might have been left over hormones so I rang EPAU and they rescanned me and there was my little peanut with a heartbeat!

Sorry for your loss, all the best for the future OP, you never know it could be just around the corner Flowers

About 6-7 weeks following my 7 week miscarriage.

I had a missed miscarriage 8 weeks ago now and still not had first AF however pretty sure I ovulated last week which means AF should be here this week sometime meaning it’s taken 9 weeks to arrive. I did call the GP a few weeks ago who said everyone is different and they won’t really get concerned till it’s been around 3 months x
