Miscarriage TMI Sorry!

So it's been 3 weeks since my MC. I've been on and off bleeding and was planning on going back to work today but started with worsening pain and heavier bleeding over the weekend.

My last scan was 26th Feb last Monday. They said there was an awful lot left in there and sent me away with Doxycycline and told me to call back in 2 weeks with a pref test result.

Done a test this morning before docs and it was still positive. Docs said my blood pressure was low prob due to loss of blood but temperature normal.

Anyway I stood up tonight and felt something slide out of me so I rushed to the toilet, when I looked it was a large fleshy mass, it was black and smelled really bad! What do I do, my temperature is still normal but feel "wobbly". Dont want to keep pestering Docs. Since this mass came out, the discharge and blood has been very Orange in colour!! I just don't know. 😞 Any advice anyone?

Sorry, no experience here but please don't think you don't need to trouble doctors! You poor thing. The bad smell suggests infection. It may all have passed now but you really need to be checked over/scanned.

Take care Flowers

I'm so sorry for your loss and that things are dragging on for you.

Are you still on the antibiotics or have they finished now? If they've finished you may need some more. Do you have open access to your EPU? I was given a phone number for the ward with my MCs and when I was worried about an infection with one of them I rang this number. It meant that I went straight to the ward to get seen and didn't have to go via the GP.

I hope things settle down for you soon.

I’m so sorry for your loss.

Go to the EPAU tomorrow, you’re not wasting their one at all.

When I had a mmc I also ended up with retained product, and after two weeks pregnancy tests were still positive, I was in a lot of pain and passed a massive grey thing, happened whilst I was showering and I was terrified. When I went back to the EPAU they told me I still had retained product after scanning and I was booked in for a second surgical procedure, which thankfully worked.

You shouldn’t be in pain. Go to the hospital, don’t leave it, you are definitely not wasting the doctors time.

Thank you so much. 💗

I finished the antibiotics yesterday, I don't have a temperature though, I thought you always had a temperature with infection? I have got the number for the EPU, I was in the gynecology ward when I was admitted though as was rushed in originally the other week. Would it be better to ring the EPU instead of Docs? Sorry, I'm not normally like this, just a little panicked.

Hi there

So sorry for your miscarriage I didn't want to read and run

I had termination at 8 weeks a few years back and had this same thing bleeding on and off for two weeks and a strange smell coming from down below. Went to the loo one day and wiped and there was a grey bloody mass on the tissue I'm guessing that was the pregnancy. Soon after I felt much better and the foul smell went.

I hope that's helped you I would imagine it's normal I think it can take some time for everything to come away.

I am in the middle of a miscarriage myself and am having the daily bleeding but think I have the mass yet to come.

I hope you feel better soon

Funkyemzie · 06/03/2018 00:07

@custardcream5 I'm so sorry for your loss too darling. It's just horrendous isn't it and such a shock. 🙁

So for you that was normal then? I'm a natural worrier and so I naturally think the worst until I become rational again, normally after I've slept.

Thank you all for you're advice, I think I'll give EPU a bell in the morning and hopefully they won't be as stressy as I am and say that it's fine and very normal.

When I had my infection I felt fine in myself. It just didn't smell good!

I would ring the EPU and they'll signpost you in the right direction for however things work in your local hospital.

I hope you get things sorted today.

Sounds lik the placenta and tissues I'm sorry
This is similar to my experience , smell may indicate infection x

Funkyemzie · 06/03/2018 16:06

So I called EPU this morning and they have told me that all seems normal, the tissue has been 'dead' for over 3 weeks and so most ladies disclose that the product smells. They offered me a scan if I was still bleeding but I'm not. I did 2 tests on 2 different brands and they both came out negative, I wasn't expecting that so quickly!

I have calmed down a bit this morning and rationallised myself, my bleeding has finally stopped. TMI again but I went for a #2 and there was alot of mucus and brown/orange substance but now I feel as if that's it, I feel like it's gone if you know what I mean, even the pain has stopped.

Thank you for all your kind words during my freak out and if anyone else is still going through this I'm sending you a big virtual cuddle because this shit sucks! X

Pleased to hear you are feeling better, similar situation with me I passed the mass and felt fine and very much not pregnant if that makes sense.

Hopefully it'll be full recovery for you now as no reason why it shouldn't, such a long process I never expected mine to take so long but I guess it's a physical thing to go through and you have to give your body time...

Take care x
