Miscarriage Testing

Following a second miscarriage which was a twin MMC I gave consent for the pregnancy tissue to be sent to a lab for testing (I had a SMM to remove the pregnancy). Has anybody had this done before? What are they testing for and how long until I hear anything? Is it likely to be no news is good news or will they send a letter regardless? I know I should've asked all this earlier but it's not until you've have time to think that questions occur! I have read after 3 miscarriages there is testing so was a bit surprised to hear they were going to be testing this time round. They haven't tested me or my partner for anything just the pregnancy tissue.

Hi @ashely992. So sorry to hear about your MMC. I had SMM last week and also consented for the tissue to be tested. They explained they were only testing to make sure it wasn’t a molar pregnancy and that there wouldn’t be any sort of chromosomal/genetic testing at this stage. She said I wouldn’t hear from them at all unless the results came back as likely to be molar/any other abnormalities with the tissue so no news would be good news! Hope you’re doing ok x
