Hi everyone,

I had a miscarriage Wednesday night/early hours Thursday morning. Did not find out I was pregnant until next day, just thought I was having a heavy period.
Went to A&E on Thursday night, did all my bloods and confirmed I was/am pregnant. In terms of going forward, was told I could go back to A&E 48 hours later to check if bloods have dropped.
Me and DH got to A&E 6.30 this morning to be told by another Doctor, they don’t do that sort of thing and to wait until Tuesday for my internal exam.
The impression I got on Thursday was ball was in my court with regards to next steps. However this morning was almost told what to do when this kind of thing happens. I’m so confused.......

I’m struggling to work out why you’re confused from this post. You will probably test positive for a little bit after a chemical pregnancy.

I’m confused because the doctors on Thursday said if I went back for a blood test today, and my levels had dropped. Then that would confirm I miscarried. But doctor today said it doesn’t work light that.
Not nice being told such conflicting information with what I’m already going through at the moment x

I think you just need to wait, if you have any more pain see the doctor but otherwise nothing they can do I’m afraid

I don't think A&E departments do blood tests. I would expect an early pregnancy unit to do that really. They may scan you and / or do bloods.

Sorry for your loss. Are you in the UK? Standard procedure here so early on is to get you to repest a pregnancy test a week later and then a further week later if necessary in order to check your hormones are returning to normal. If they do not or if you suffer any further symptoms or pains then they will step up the tests and care they offer. I conceived again 2 weeks after miscarrying last month. Really hoping it is OK this time round. Good luck. X
