I'm looking for some advice as I'm not sure what to expect here. I discovered I had a mmc on Monday and started to bleed lightly on Thursday evening, heavily (clots etc) on Friday afternoon for most of the afternoon, but then it eased off considerably since Friday evening. I've not had much pain, but am now only lightly bleeding, but with worsening cramps but they aren't unbearable. I had a miscarriage of an ectopic 2 years ago - horrendous pain that made me pass out on the toilet. So I guess what I'm worried about is that I feel this is the calm before the storm, or that I'm going to have to have the ERPC... or is there a chance that this is it? Thanks x

It's very hard to know, but if your cramps are worsening and you saw a gestational sac on the scan, but haven't yet passed it, I think that bit may still be to come. What gestation are you/what gestation did the pregnancy stop growing at?

Ultimately I think you have to have another scan to find out if the miscarriage is complete. Flowers in the meantime.

Thanks for replying Queen.
I had IVF so know my dates exactly, I would have been 7w5days yesterday. Gestational sac was measuring only 6 weeks and no fetal pole or heartbeat at scan on Monday, so was told a mmc. To be honest I haven't been looking at what's come out, as I don't want to see it (I know some people do, and respect that, but i know i'd find it too upsetting) but I do suspect that it's not come out yet Sad. I'm just scared after the last time.

Hi @Hobbes39 I'm so sorry for your loss. I had a mmc at the end of October which was medically managed. I had fairly bad cramps for 2 weeks afterwards - turned out I hadn't passed everything so I guess that's why I was still cramping and bleeding a bit. Are they going to scan you to check? X

I'm so sorry for your loss :( I had a mmc at 12 weeks and had medical management which wasn't successful so had a d&c to complete it. I'd 100% say go back and get scanned again to see what's going on xxx

I am being scanned on Monday, so I'm sure will find out then it's not all gone. Ug. I'm cramping so much, but not a lot coming out now 😔. Seems my body can't even get this right....
Just want it over with now.

That's exactly how I felt! Just wanted to get it done with and my body had other ideas! If they suggest d&c I'd take it, I felt so much better after mine xxx

@Zoo33 - did you end up having an ERPC? My cramps are now so bad cocodamol and ibuprofen aren't shifting the pain Sad... but the bleeding is relatively light - Like a medium day of a normal period. I just wish the pain would stop and it would be over.

@Hobbes39 I had an MVA (same thing as an ERPC I think but under local anaesthetic). They gave me the same 4 choices as before but I didn't want to wait any longer or risk it not passing. It was also a 10 day wait for an ERPC. Sorry to hear the cramps are worse - I would ask them for stronger painkillers tomorrow. I hope you're doing okay - good luck with the scan tomorrow. X

Just following up as when I was looking for answers I always found it useful when OP says what's happened in the end.
So I had awful pain today and went in for scan. They surprised me by saying that the sac must have passed as it was no longer in my uterus, so that was good, but didn't explain my pain. They then searched everywhere to see if the 2nd embryo that was put back but hadn't taken had actually taken somewhere ectopic - but after 2 separate scans they confirmed what they were seeing was just simple cysts on my ovaries. They have no idea why I've been in so much pain - my HCG has dropped a long way to just 400, so it must be mostly out by now. I've been sent home with strong painkillers that dull the pain to a manageable level, but make me feel a bit drunk tbh! But I'm relieved that the pain isn't as bad as it was awful. Fingers crossed for Wednesday when I'm to go back for another scan and blood test 🤞
