Period after MMC.

This may be a bit long-winded but I'll try to keep it as short as possible.

Basically 3 weeks ago I had a confirmed mc at 12 weeks (5-6 week fetal pole, 9 week gestation sac). I had surgical management 2 weeks ago on Wednesday due to an incomplete mc found on the rescan the day before the surgery.

Now here's where it gets a bit complicated. I have a letter from the hospital which essentially states that the urine sample I gave them (so 2 weeks ago) tested negative so don't have to worry about the 3 week pregnancy test afterwards. After basically bleeding for about 8 days, it's became brown and didn't really go on to the pad much. After a few days with nothing on the pad it seems to have picked up again this evening. Still brown but accompanied by what feels like mild AF cramps and symptoms.

How possible is it to come from a mc to AF pretty simultaneously? If my test was negative two weeks ago I'm assuming my levels at that point where super low anyway? I'll probably get in touch with my GP tomorrow anyway, but just wanted some opinions/experiences as I'm trying to stay calm and I'm not sure what's going on.

Sorry for your loss OP. I've found the whole experience of MC baffling from beginning to end, I had no idea how awful it would be and my body has being doing weird stuff.

I'm in a very similar situation - I haven't a scooby do what's going on! I have a feeling it's going to be the mother of all AFs Confused hope someone has some experience to share

I had a miscarriage around 5 weeks ago, heavy bleeding but didn't pass, so went for the d&c option 4 weeks ago and was surprised when my period came just the other day. Was told it would be around 6-8 weeks after. Was dreading it as heard a lot of horror stories about the first period after but definitely hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. Counting the days till it's over so we can ttc again 😊

I'm really sorry to hear about your situations and MCs, and hope you're both doing okay. It's definitely a bit confusing being stuck in limbo a bit longer!

I hope it ends soon for you @Shonagh! Smile

I never stopped bleeding from my miscarriage when AF came 4 weeks to the day after I lost my baby he was 13-14 weeks (I was supposed to be 14-15 weeks pregnant).

Now having the period from hell because as if our bodies haven't been through enough already we have horrendous periods after wards as well.

They usually say you can count it as AF if you have had a break in between bleeding from surgery and the next bleed...but everything's a bit all over the place for a while afterwards. I bled for a while then thought it was AF then a light bleed and now a heavy one...

So sorry for your loss, I think have a chat with GP just for some advice but try not to worry, it took me a while to accept there was no normal really and just take each day at a time and just see how you feel in yourself.
