I should have started my period on Monday but on the Friday before I started having brown/red bleeding and I thought maybe my period was just being irregular . I took a tampon out and when I looked in the toilet there was something that looked like tissue and then the next morning when I changed my tampon it looked like this ... sorry for tmi but is this a miscarriage or just an irregular period ??

It looks like a miscarriage but given you think your period was only due yesterday I'd go to your doctor and get checked out as you look much further along than two weeks. At two weeks it would norm just be a bit more blood than normal that looks closer to 8 - 12 weeks to me.
