Hi I wondered if anyone else had been through this awful experience? I had a mmc at my 12 week scan on 7th June, I was told baby had stopped growing at around 9 weeks. I opted for an ERPC which was carried out the following day. Since then I have been to A&E twice with severe bleeding & headaches. I had 2 ultrasounds which showed lots of clots but they said were not of concern as not retained products. After the 2nd ultrasound they told me it was more than likely just my hormones causing the bleeding and in time will return to normal. I was given numerous pills to try and stop the pain & bleeding including naproxen, tranexamic acid, mefenamic acid, norethisterone. None of these had any effect. My pregnancy test was still showing as possitive up until 5 days ago as well but noone seemed concerned by this. HCG levels were also never checked during this time. I had had enough of the bleeding as it wasnt getting any lighter & I started to get really angry and felt I was just being fobbed off with pills, so I returned to my GP 2 days ago who got me an appointment that same day with a gynaecologist at the hospital. Two of them rescanned me and I was told there was retained products and that is why I had continued to bleed. I couldnt believe it!! Anyway that same day they gave me a 2nd ERPC and the surgeon saw me after & said everything was out. I know it has been only 48 hours ago since the procedure but the bleeding is very heavy with clots.. sorry tmi. I dont know if this is normal or not after a 2nd ERPC. I am so fed up & feel drained of this bleeding for nearly 6 weeks now and I cant remember what it feels like not to be!!
Sorry to ramble on & some of this may not make sense but I am so cross I have had to go through this again. Will it ever end??!
Two of my friends have had this procedure and one bled for only 3 days after and the other a week why is this happening to me??!
Please if anyone has been through this let me know as I cant take much more! X

I really feel for you. I had the exact same issue. I had one ERPC, bled heavily for 8 weeks, I kept passing out and even collapsed in my own blood all over the supermarket! I was back and forth to A&E, EPU, GP and eventually had a second scan and another ERPC. I did bleed quite a lot, it was clotty, thick and dark coloured tissue. I bled for 12 weeks until everything was sorted!

It's awful, do not let them fob you off!

Also request your HCG levels are checked, they should be low by now, if they're not that's an indication of left over tissue. You'll be tested again 48 hours later and it should be going down.

Thankyou so much for your reply. Its a real nightmare isnt it. So sorry you had to go through the same thing, glad it finally stopped for you, 12 weeks must of been horrendous, its so unfair.
Can I ask did the bleeding just stop eventually by itself or were you given any medication?
I ended up going to A&E yesterday morning as literally flooded through the bed Thursday night and they have kept me in to observe the blood loss/clots. I will be seen today by a gynaecologist who will scan me again. I just pray they get to the bottom of this today & I am not just sent home with a load of pills again!!
I will ask them to check my HCG levels also.
Thankyou so much again

First time I was put on tranenamic (that's definitely spelt wrong, lol) I don't remember the name properly and mefenamic acid which stemmed it. I was the same I woke up covered in it! I'd have sudden gushes of it but there would be loads!

The second time it kind of slowly came to a half IYSWIM? You do feel like it will never end and you'll bleed forever. I hope you get sorted Flowers

Had another US today and was clear so that is one good thing. Also HCG levels are very low now. Have been told I just need to wait for all my hormones/body to return to normal as will now start to recognise it is no longer pregnant after having had the last ERPC. That is the only explanation they can give me. Also have been put back on norethisterone and the transexamic acid. I dont have much faith anymore but there is no more they can do at this point and have had 4 scans now!! Got to go back in a week for Gynee follow up.
I think going to have to just ride it out and hope like yours did that it will eventually go!!
Thanks again for your reply
