Think I'm having a miscarriage

Got the precious BFP on Tuesday. This morning a bit of red when I went to the loo. Doctor booked me in for this afternoon but I've just been to the loo again to do a pregnancy test - got more blood and a BFN.
Heartbroken. There's very little chance I'm still still pregnant, is there?

Hi Ineed

I'm so sorry for what you're going through. Have you seen the doctor yet?

ImaLannister · 09/06/2017 14:59

Hi, sounds like a chemical pregnancy. I've had 4 in the past year. I had a BFP, then only to bleed around 4 days after and the test to turn Negative. Technically it is a miscarriage, but not in medical terms, because it's the very very early stages. It happens when the fertilised egg fails to survive, which you then pass out as a 'late period'. They class it as a late period. But go to doctors to get it recorded. I did. After my fourth I got checked out at hospital. Got my bloods done, scan & they took a sample of my womb tissue. Only to be told everything is perfectly normal. They don't know why it happens.

Doctor said they didn't think it was chemical just spotting, and later test was P again. But they're referring me to early pregnancy unit on Monday to double check. I have a horrible feeling it was a chemical though - just in my gut, IYKWIM.
Thanks for your messages.

Well, I'd be hopeful then at least. How heavy was the bleeding? Mine started off light then was like a full blown period, which I knew then that it was over. If yours is light then maybe it is spotting. EPU will take your bloods for HGC hormone probably, they did with me. It kept on decreasing and I knew what that meant. I was under no illusions.
All the best anyway. Hoping for a good result for you.
And we will keep on trying until we get a result we want! 😊

That's a bit of a roller coaster OP! Keeping my fingers crossed for you. I had spotting with my first pregnancy which all turned out absolutely fine, but the same with my second which sadly turned out to be the beginning of a MC.

I am sending you lots of hope and strength.

Thanks so much NoNeed. Had first bloods today. Took a ClearBlue as well which says I'm still 1-2 weeks when I should be 4 (from conception) now. So I'm assuming chemical pregnancy. :(

OP I'm having similar. Had ivf and tested last weds with a bfp although it was very faint. Wasn't really getting any darker testing over a week and sat/sun I had cramps and bleeding. Testing still shows a faint line but I'm trying to get into the drs tomorrow for a test as my ivf scan wouldn't be for another 2 weeks.

Well this is very confusing. Went in for second bloods today and was told that my first levels were very low (12) so it was likely mine didn't embed. Went home and bleeding had increased slightly (still not enough to fill a pad or anything). DH and I had a long cry, said goodbye, tried to look on positive side that at least we can get pregnant...
Then Drs called to say that my blood levels have rocketed to 100, so I'm still pregnant and fine. Lady on the other end of the phone had a cry with me I was so shocked. Still bleeding brown (tissue, not clots, IYKWIM?) which is really scary but at the moment, today, I am pregnant.

Oh OP, what a rollercoaster for you and your partner!! I don't understand the difference in numbers, but does that mean that things are ok? I really hope so.
I got in at the Drs this morning and they wouldn't test me! Said it won't clear things up either way so best to wait for my scan on the 23rd so my two week wait has turned into a four and a half week wait.

Clear blue 1-2 means 3-4 in normal terms. Fingers crossed op

Doctor called back this morning to clarify - the person I spoke to yesterday afternoon got things wrong. Basically my progesterone was low (12) and my HCG levels aren't doubling as they should (62 to 111) so it's a 99% chance that I'll lose the pregnancy. Going in for another test tomorrow to find out whether it's an ectopic pregnancy or a miscarriage.

Devastated doesn't even describe it. DH probably more upset than me as I had a funny feeling things weren't right last night. My Mum said that she had a progesterone deficiency which meant she was trying for me for more than 5 years with multiple miscarriages.

Does anyone know how I can get progesterone supplements, either a depository or a gel or something? This does seem to be the most likely problem for me, and I don't want to have to wait for more mcs to get doctors to test me for this...

Hi OP I'm on Cyclogest progesterone but they have to be prescribed to get them I believe. Worth asking your Dr if they can do this for you though?

INeedABiggerBoat · 16/06/2017 14:15

Thanks Bernard, doctor today said I'd need three mcs before they'd look at prescribing anything, so I guess I'm in for a lot more heartache. Confirmed today that it's not viable, but I need to go back on Wednesday to see whether they can confirm if it's ectopic or not.

I'm terrified of needing surgery, I don't want to be knocked out or having anyone opening up my stomach. Having massive panic attacks about it.

And to top it all off I've got a massive work thing on Wednesday afternoon then got to go to Italy on Thursday for work, then was due a holiday in Italy with friends straight afterwards. Obviously that's all up in the air now. It' the not knowing that's the real kicker, isn't it?
