Bleeding at 6 weeks really worried

can anyone give me any reassuring advice about bleeding in early pregnancy? Ita my first pregnancy and I started with spotting a few days ago then the next day it was like a light period with dark blood. I went to see my Dr and he made me an appointment for a scan with my early pregnancy unit. Had the scan today (normal and internal) and found out I was 6 weeks 1 day and baby was seen and with a heartbeat! We were so relieved but then this evening I've bled the most so far, bright red blood and there was also a tiny clot so my worries are back again. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Didn't want to read and run. Couldn't you call back your early pregnancy unit for another scan and maybe even a blood test every few days to check if your pregnancy hormones are increasing? Good luck OP.

Thanks for replying! Yeah I think I'm going to have to try not to panic and if it stays this heavy I'm going to have to contact them for another scan or at the very least some advice, it's hard not to panic! :-( X

I know and I'm sorry. The one good thing is that you saw a heartbeat. Bleeding in pregnancy is not uncommon but I see how you'd want the reassurance that everything is still ok. Just hang on the belief that where there is life, there is hope. And yes I would prioritise another visit to your early pregnancy unit. Could you just walk in tomorrow morning? x

Go to a&e. I did and got sent straight to EPU. I had a miscarriage but my bleeding was also accompanied by a dull cramping sensation in my stomach.

Thanks for the advice, I've had some cramping and a few blood clots and quite a bit more blood tonight so I'm really scared now so if this carries on overnight I'm going to have to phone in sick at work tomorrow and try and get seen at the EPU. Fearing the worst now but will let you know how I get on :-(

Thinking about you OP and hoping for the best for you. Regardless of what happens tonight I would definitely still go to a&e/EPU first thing or as soon as you can. No pressure to update the thread, just take care of you

Please go straight to A&E, now. I had the same thing and I'm afraid to say I'd had a mmc so please go and get yourself checked out.

Hi everyone, just thought I'd let you know that I have lost the baby 😥. I had a big clot that wasn't just blood so I think I knew then. I had a scan today that confirmed it. Although I was only just over 6 weeks, after seeing a heartbeat on Tuesday it did make this all the more difficult. I'm not in pain and I feel ok at the moment. Thank you for your advice and as soon as my bleeding stops I feel I want to try again straight away as this will help me deal with it.

So sorry for your loss. The same happened to me 2 weeks ago. It's an awful thing to go through but I've found these forums useful in knowing there are others going through the same thing and I'm not alone. Like you, I intend to try again as soon as I can. I've stopped bleeding now and am waiting for my negative test to confirm that everything is out of my system. Remember, miscarriages are very common and hopefully we have got our share of bad luck out of the way. Xx

So sorry for your loss too. It's so awful and even worse that it's so common and that you never know the reason why. I'm just thinking there must have been something wrong with the baby and it's nature's way of letting us know. Good luck for getting pregnant again quickly, (they say youre most fertile in the first 6 months after you miscarry) and let's hope we both manage to have a successful healthy full term pregnancy second time around 😘

Absolutely. My doctor told me that the majority of miscarriages occur due to problems with chromosomes and so a miscarriage, in a weird and twisted way, can be a blessing to prevent a baby from suffering who would most probably have suffered with many problems. She also said that 99% of people who have miscarried go on to have a healthy pregnancy. I think what has made if difficult for me is the fact that this was my first pregnancy. I can't help but worry that this will happen again but I'm trying to stay positive. I feel like I'm wishing the days away so I can get closer to being pregnant again. However, if I do get pregnant again, I'll be terrified!

I feel exactly the same as it was my first ever pregnancy too! We will just have to stay positive and think we have had our bad luck now and like you say it could be a blessing in disguise as it was our body's way of telling us the baby wasn't healthy and may have grown to have a problem the child may have had to deal with for life. If I get pregnant again though, the first sign of any blood I will be terrified but will have to stay positive! Good luck xxx

I'm so sorry OP. I really was hoping for some good news for you. . Be kind to yourself and when you're ready try again.

I had a mc in February and only now do I feel just about ready to try again.

I'm glad you feel ready to try again and I will be wishing for you to get pregnant again quickly and I really hope you have a healthy full term pregnancy. It does make you scared to try again but I think that's going to be the best way for me to get through it. Good luck and my heart goes out to you.
