I was happy yesterday, I was almost 6 weeks pregnant and my DP and I were talking about how the kids would react to a new baby. Now I am miscarrying. I don't know what to do. I am in Australia and it is currently midnight and I can't sleep

I miscarried last year. It sucks.

Do you have plenty of sanitary towels? You can take paracetomal for pain.

Firstly, im so sorry for your loss. I had a miscarriage a week today and had a medical procedure in Tuesday to rid of any excess tissue. As awful as it is, there is no rush. If you go to hospital they won't do much bit take your blood levels every 48 hours to check your hormone levels have gone down. Once they have confirmed this they may do a scan but all of this will just confirm what you already know. You will then discuss how you want to manage the miscarriage- medical, natural or surgical. If you are away there is no harm in letting everything pass naturally. I would just keep an eye on the amount of blood. If it soaks through a maxi sanitary pad in an hour or 2 then go straight to a and e. Watch out for pains on one side also which could be a sign of ectopic pregnancy. Hope you are OK. Such an awful time.

i had severe cramping today on one side of my abdomen (the left side, not sure if it makes a difference) to the point I couldnt actually concentrate on anything.

I am so sorry this has happened. I dont know anything about the medical portion but wanted to let you know I'm thinking about you. 💐

Highshelf · 10/03/2017 13:37

In that case I'd go to a and e as soon as you can just incase it's ectopic. Other signs they checked me for was pain in the tips of your shoulders. I think with ectopic pregnancy you also get very heavy bleeding. However, don't panic! Keep yourself comfortable with paracetamol and a heat pad if you have one. Perhaps there's an emergency number you can call. I called 111 here in England.

HepKestrel · 11/03/2017 13:56

How are you doing today?

harrypotternerd · 11/03/2017 21:55

im ok. I just keep thinking how unfair this is. DP and I have been ttc for 8 months and it just seems cruel. The doctor did say because I have had healthy pregnancies before it is very very unlikely I will have another MC.

Yes, most likely to be a random thing. Doesn't make it much easier though. More women have gone through this than admit it in real life. You are not alone.

thank you @HepKestrel. I just feel like we have lost so much
