Confused... Help...Unsure...Miscarriage or not?

Hi All,

So i had my last period on 17/11/16 and a positive test on 14/12/16. Yesterday we decided that we would like to have a private scan for reassurance, the scan was very unclear and the fetal pole was measuring 5mm and sadly no heart beat.
Today i was referred to the EPU and scanned again, the fetal pole measured 6mm but still no heart beat.
Have to return next week, completely confused, don't know what to think, should i be happy about the growth, but shouldn't the fetal pole be bigger for 8 weeks and a heart beat?

It's really just a case of wait and see. If you are very sure of your dates, then yes there should really be a hb at 8 weeks. However if there's a chance you ovulated later in your cycle then there's a chance that you aren't as far along as you think.

I drove myself mad googling for positive outcomes when this happened to me. I had a scan at 8+4 and it was very small, measuring around 5/6mm with a barely visible hb. The following week at the re-scan it had started shrinking, and the hb has disappeared. But, I was 100% on my dates as I'd been tracking ovulation and keeping a note of when we dtd.

Fingers crossed for good news next week.
