Shocking stats - any advice?

Today I was scouring the internet for stats after ttc following a mmc at 12 weeks.

And I think I want to cry. A study in 2000 tracking a million Danish women found mc rate is 40% in women at 40 and (gulp) 95% for woman 45 or above! I never knew thet were that bad as I always thought 25% for woman over 40.

Anyway of looking at these stats and not wanting to fill my face with cream buns with a box of tissues all day?!

Must add I am 39 which makes me s dinosaur according to these studies.

Yeah. I am 42 and there are a few of us here over 40.
A conservative estimate of my risk is 45% (add a further 10-20% on top as my partner is in his 50s)....

But you are still more likely to carry to term than not.

This website is a sensible digest. There are things you can do to reduce risk -give up alcohol and caffiene and smoking completely. None of these things will stop you misscarrying and you should not second guess yourself if that was not the case prior...

And good luck. Plenty of people do achieve a healthy baby over 40 (is the norm in some parts of London these days)...

I am almost 43 and have conceived at 39, 40 and 42, the first and last ended in mc, one ended in my wonderful daughter.

There is always hope, and we will be trying again until we really can't bear to. Before our most recent loss I basically told myself that our chances of it working out again were 50/50, right down the middle. I wasn't terribly surprised when we got bad news, but it could just as easily have been positive.

I am lucky in that I have had a positive experience already, but it is possible. Good luck.

Thanks Greedy Duck, its that that I want to tell myself even if it is 50/50 (thats after after you get a BFP) I would still take those odds.

And yes we plan to keep trying til Mother Nature until my batch if eggs are well and truly gone. This may mean steeling myself for some tough times and that is what I need to do!!
