Miscarriage investigations

I've had 2 miscarriages and have no children and am debating going to a specialist privately to start the ball rolling.

For those with experience would you advise starting the investigations after 2 mc's or should I see what happens next time? I am aware it could just be unlucky and I could hit it lucky next time.

Also those who have had investigations carried out what did this involve/what treatment were you given if any?

Sorry about your miscarriages jaffacakes16
I gave birth to my to my dd 2 years ago, text book pregnancy. We then started trying for another one last year and I've had 3 miscarriages (all around 7-8weeks). With each miscarriage I went back to my GP to be told 'it's bad luck'. I knew deep down that something was wrong but the NHS protocol is to wait for 3 consecutive miscarriages before being referred to a recurrent miscarriage clinic. After the 3rd miscarriage I took things into my own hands and had tests done privately (all came back fine). I then found the miscarriage clinic in Epsom and went to see Dr Shehata. He does immune testing and after having my tests done there I was diagnosed with high natural killer cells and very high TNF alpha. We are back to trying again and I am now being treated with steriods and progesterone. In the meantime I was still waiting for my NHS referral which. I finally got a letter through with an appt in 2 weeks (it was a 5 month wait in total). I don't feel they will be able to help me much as I know they will just run the same blood test as I had done privately but I'm still going to go to the appointment just to see what they have to say. So I say if time is not on your side it's good to get the ball rolling privately and perhaps the immune way is worth a look?
Good luck to you xx

PJ thanks for that. I've made an appointment to go private but I'm not sure if the doc does the natural killer cell tests. It's something for me to read up on and ask him.

Part of me thinks I should have one more try naturally but at the same time I'll be devastated if I have to go through another miscarriage.

Hi Jaffa, I remember you from the September 2ww thread. I'm here after having my second mc this year. This one was a mmc and the baby died at 8 weeks. Waiting to miscarry naturally. I'm definitely having tests done rather than wait for 3.ice begged my GP and he's writing to the recurrent miscarriage clinic for me. If they don't play ball, I'll have some tests done at the GP and pay for some private ones. In particular NK cells.
Hope you're doing ok. xx

Hi July, so sorry to hear your sad news. I'll let you know how I get on with the consultant this week and what tests I'm offered. My GP was very helpful and has referred me on nhs but it's a 9 month wait here. Who knew this was all so difficult! Take care of yourself Flowers
