Medical mystery, miscarriage, ongoing or ectopic?

Sorry I'm new here and I have found myself in a really unusual situation and was wondering if anyone else had experienced similar?

Sorry, pressed too quick! Me and my other half found ourselves pregnant and at this point had calculated to be 7wks, after having some light bleeding we were referred for both an internal and external scan which came back as showing no evidence of any pregnancy which means we have miscarried very early and may have just caught the end/beginning of MC when we tested. To confirm I was asked to take another pt which came back positive almost immediately. My blood was also taken with a hCg level of 188. I have had no pains or passed any tissue, just intermittent light bleeding. The doctors are clueless and are of the opinion that we have miscarried very early and the positive pregnancy is due to some tissue remaining, but they are also in the opinion that I have had a silent MC and no tissue was found on scan, we have miscarried and near immediately conceived again or the pregnancy is ectopic though l have no symptoms at all of this? Just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation?

Sorry you are going through this. I have experienced this several times. Are they going to keep monitoring your HCG levels every 48 hours?

I've got to go back friday for another blood test and then we can take it from there. If you don't mind me asking, what has happened in your experience? I was referred to a senior doctor who had no clue what to do with me?

Sorry Kate, I fell asleep. I have gone through this scenario three times. Once it was a miscarriage and twice it was an ectopic pregnancy. Were you seen in an Early Pregnancy Unit? How they treat you will depend upon what your second blood result shows and whether it has risen or fallen. If it has risen they will also be looking at how much it has risen by. It's such a worrying time, I really feel for you. Will be thinking of you on Friday.

I was seen by the senior doctor on duty at the EPU who was baffled and told me that she couldn't give me any real answers at the minute which is beyond frustrating. In your case were you displaying any ectopic symptoms? I've had nothing. I feel like I can deal with it and start TTC again but I need some sort of answer thank you so much for your well wishes, still half hoping for some sort of miracle

To be fair to the doctor it's really impossible to say what's happening with an inconclusive scan and one set of blood results. With my first ectopic I had no symptoms at all. They took bloods every other day for two weeks and the HCG was rising very slowly. After two weeks they rescanned me and saw something in the tube. They then treated me with methotrexate.

With my second I had no symptoms of an ectopic until a few hours before I ruptured. However, I felt very strongly from the moment that I got a positive HPT that it was another ectopic. I went back and forth to the hospital with the doctors trying to tell me it was a normal pregnancy until the point that my tube ruptured. However to give you hope my "non viable", slow rising, failing to double HCG pregnancy is tucked up in bed fast asleep. Miracles do happen. Really hope you get yours.

Desperately sorry to hear this. I had an ectopic pregnancy a few weeks ago. No idea I was pregnant and was feeling really silly about dialling 111 with what I thought was 'wind'.

The pain increased and I was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy via internal scan. They said they would monitor my HCG but consultant overruled and whisked me off the surgery as Fallopian tube ruptured.

I can't say how it should feel only how I felt. Sharp stabbing pain acould with bleeding very pink blood.

It sounds rather like my ectopic pregnancy. I had no pain at all throughout the whole experience, just some spotting. My HCG was monitored for 10 days. I had a couple of transvaginal scans and then eventually the consultant made the call to operate.

I'm very new here but do you mind me asking if the saved your tube or was it removed?

Completely understand if you don't want to say but I'm struggling after my ectopic and would dearly love to talk to someone who's been through it

My tube was removed and they identified endometriosis during the operation (which subsequently was found to have blocked my remaining tube). DC2 was conceived by IVF and was born 20 months after my ectopic.

I'm really sorry to hear you are struggling, I did too. Initially I didn't understand why I had been signed off work for 6 weeks as I recovered quite quickly physically - but I needed every bit of the time (and more). I found myself in public with tears running down my face. So please, be gentle with yourself, allow yourself time to grieve and heal, lean on friends and family if you can.

The wonderful nurse who looked after me after my surgery, pointed me towards www.ectopic.org.uk/ - they are a great organisation and now have online support forums which they didn't have in my day.

They've found no reason behind mine. I was actually heterotopic-apparently 1 in 30000 chance.

I lost my tube also and have been off for 4 weeks. It felt the first 2 were for the physical and once I was a lot better my head decided it was ready to grieve

Just to add my 2 pence worth

I had a PUL/ectopic in May. I had 3 weeks of constant bleeding/spotting and GP did a pregnancy test which was positive. They thought it was retained product from previous Misscarriage but scan was clear. Hcg tests remained static for 5 days or so so was treated with Methotrexate.

Apart from the bleeding I had zero symptoms. I didn't even think I was pregnant so never did a pregnancy test. I didn't have any pain or any of the typical ectopic symptoms just bleeding which I thought was a dodgy period.

It was a very frustrating time going through a couple of diagnosis and there was a good week of 'waiting and seeing' totally understand what your going through and hope you get the answer your after
