Pregnancy after miscarriage without a period first

I had a missed miscarriage in May and only got it sorted after failed medical and failed surgical intervention in July. I had 3 months of bleeding/ hospital admission/ procedures to get rid of the pregnancy. I'm now worried I may have gotten pregnant again - unplanned as have had no sign of period/ bleeding since my final procedure in early July. Could a positive test be hormone levels still there ? If it is a real pregnancy I have done a lot of damage with smoking drinking etc already, plus they say to wait a minimum of one period due to the medication used - I had multiple amounts of medication inside cervix. Asking for any advice please as I am so stressed.

I got pregnant after an ERPC before having a real period, with DD1. It was fine. The main reason they want you to wait is because it makes it easier for them to date.

If you've been drinking and smoking, just stop now. Babies are born perfectly healthily when their mothers had NO IDEA for a really long time that they were pregnant and did all those things.

Did you have a negative pregnancy test in between? If you didn't, then it might be worth going to your GP and asking for a scan referral to see what's going on - as I'm sure you know, retained products can give you a false positive. If you did have one, then chances are that you're pregnant again. Congratulations and good luck :)

I didn't check after the last procedure as the surgeon said nothing was left when I left the hospital and was planning to test if my period was not here within 6 wks, thank you very much for the advice.
