What's going on?

Hi, this is my first pregnancy and I really need some help..

I bled for a week and a half (thought it was my period) however 2 days later I was feeling sick & peeing a lot. I took 2 pregnancy tests and both came back positive (this was 3 weeks ago). Today I was going to surprise my mum by giving her a test and a grandma card as a present to her, so I took 2 tests this morning and came back negative, does this mean that the long bleeding was a miscarriage? I phoned my doctor to get an appointment and can't get one till next week, the bleeding has stopped and I'm not in pain anymore. Thank you x

Hi, sounds like it could be I'm sorry. Was the bleeding at the normal time for your period or late? You could try calling you local epu to see if they can see you sooner. Sorry your going through the this worry, I hope it works out for you.

It may have been I'm sorry - some times the hormones take a while to fade.

You could try the EPU but in my experience they don't want to see you if you are or might be under 6 weeks. 111 could give you some advice maybe?

Thank you both so much for advice, what would the doctor do when I go to see him, as I would like to notify my workplace of a miscarriage as I work with toddlers and babies. Would my doctor provide a letter to give to my manager? Xx

When I was in the midst of an early miscarriage I went to a walk in centre. The dr took my blood pressure and ascertained that it probably wasn't an ectopic pregnancy, then told me there was nothing else he could do. The EPU said not to bother coming in as they couldn't do anything either and it was too early for a scan, but to do a pregnancy test a few weeks later and if it was still positive, to come and have a scan.

I'm afraid I don't know what your GP can do, if anything - at this point he probably won't be able to tell if you had been pregnant or not I'm afraid.

What sort of relationship do you have with your manager? Would they have to have a note or could you just tell them?

It's worth asking your dr as they may be willing to write you something. What would you need the note for? Would your employer be understanding if you told them verbally what has happened? Hope you're okay x

I'd need a note just to let my employer know what has happened (I'm not in pain anymore) just so she is aware that is has happened, as I work with babies I'm starting to feel emotional xx

If you just need the note so she knows you've had a miscarriage rather than time off sick for it you shouldn't need one at all - just tell her.

Just be honest. She's your mum and loves you

So sorry for your loss. I was worried about how to tell my mum with both my miscarriages (didn't want to upset her). It was so much better once I'd told her. Just tell her, be honest, she will likely just want to know so she can support you.
