Cycles post surgical management

I had a MMC discovered at a scan at 11 weeks, my baby had died at 7.5 weeks.

I had a surgical management of miscarriage a week later which did not work and then had a second one. I was in so much pain and bleeding so much I didn't want anything else.

I am now over a week post the second operation (can't think of what else to call it).

I was wondering if anyone else has experience of how long it will take for my body to recover and resume normal function. I currently feel like my body is gearing up to ovulate, I feel like my body has been so messed up over the last few weeks.

Could I be ovulating this soon, a little over a week after the first SMM? when I returned to hospital the nurse told me I was still showing as pregnant when they did a urine test, then they did a scan and found I still had a lot of retained product, so I was booked in for another procedure.

It has now been three weeks since the first SMM and one week and a couple of days after the second.

I just want to go back to normal. I am still so heartbroken and just want a little control of my body back, I used to know bang on when I would ovulate and expect af, I want normality in my life again.

Hi fuzzy, I'm sorry for your loss. I'm in a similar position, it's been two and a half weeks since I had surgical management. We found out that there was no heartbeat at 7wks 4days, but I had to wait over a week to have the surgery. I'm still getting faint positives on HPT's. I'm also getting positives one day and negatives the next on OPK's, so I can totally sympathise with feeling frustrated at not knowing where in my cycle I am, or whether I'm closer to ovulation or AF. I expect I just need to be patient and give my body time to sort itself out, but it's easier said than done! x

I've not done any tests myself. I have to go in for a scan next week to see if everything is ok as the first procedure failed.

I suppose I'm also worrying about the pains I'm feeling in case something is wrong 😔

Fuzzy if you're concerned about pain, maybe you could contact them tomorrow rather than waiting until next week. Is it like cramps? Are you bleeding as well? x

Thanks thatsnotmybear, I've finally stopped bleeding. I was only bleeding a little after the last procedure, and was spotting for a while. The pains feel like when I ovulate, usually lasts a day when I'm ovulating in a normal cycle these pains come and go in intensity, they're worse when I have a full bladder. They're like sharp cramps on one side.

I feel like such a nuisance going to the hospital so much.

Could you call the EPU and ask for a callback from one of the doctors? I ended up having 3 scans at the hospital before the miscarriage could be diagnosed, then back to hospital for the procedure, so I know what you mean about repeat visits. I expect you can't wait to see the back of the place x

I think I may have to. I had no pain today then when I went out to get a snack I suddenly flooded! I've only just stopped spotting from the SMM!

Maybe it's a period. I'm not in any pain or anything. Just slightly shocked to see the rush of bright red blood all of a sudden.

Had to go and buy new jeans and underwear 🙁

You poor thing. Definitely call them. It could be a period, although I was told to expect a period at least 3-6 weeks after surgery. Probably best to get checked out x
