ERPC recovery?

I'm booked in for ERPC this Friday afternoon. It's been a long, drawn out process as my MC was diagnosed at 10 weeks, exactly 5 weeks ago now and I had so much bleeding etc at the time I was convinced it was all over. But unfortunately I still have retained products.

Will I be ok going back to work next Monday (office job) if I have it done on Friday? I've managed to avoid telling work that I have had a miscarriage so far, as it happened on the first day of my week-long holiday last month and I haven't had any sick leave.

Hi Bear, I'm very sorry for your loss. I had surgical management for a MMC last Monday afternoon and took a flight abroad for a city break on the Thursday morning, as it was already booked & paid for. Physically I felt absolutely fine, no bleeding, cramps, etc. I was advised at the hospital that physical recovery is usually quick.

Bear sorry you've had such a horrible time.

I had an ERPC last Monday at 11 weeks. I have to say that I was surprised at the effect the general anaesthetic had on me. I was still feeling woozy and exhausted on Saturday. In terms of pain, I had unpleasant cramping the following day but after that the pain and bleeding have been completely manageable.

It's hard to separate how much is physical and how much is mental. I suspect that some of my exhaustion last week was caused by the psychological side of things. Is it possible that because you have had five weeks to come to terms with the miscarriage that you might feel better quicker than I have?

Shoes - thank you, sorry for your loss too. Yes i think 5 weeks on we mostly just want to get on and TTC so it's just something that needs sorting out. Hope you are ok, it does get better xx

I have a waitressing job and had an the op on Friday and returned to work on Monday. I also didn't inform work as I didn't work Friday. I regretted it and wished I'd given myself more time to recover. I was ok on Monday but had a bit of a break down on Tuesday and thankfully my colleague didn't ask to many questions. Sorry for your loss and hope everything goes well.

I'm sorry for your loss. I had an ERPC when my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 11 weeks. Personally, I think you should plan to take a few days of work, maybe a week. I had some heavy bleeding a few days later and I wouldn't have coped with that at work (passing clots). Don't worry about work - pregnancy related sickness is not something they can use against you on your attendance record. But if you work in an office, and have Monday off, maybe you will be ok on Tuesday. Especially since you have passed most of it naturally. It's the emotional healing that took longest for me - but perhaps after five weeks you are a bit further down that road now. All the best for the procedure
