Scared about trying again, how long do you wait?

I had a mmc in March and went down the medical management route in April. The fetus was only 6 weeks when it was lost and I didn't even know I was pregnant till 10 1/2 weeks.

I took the the medical management pessaries on the 15th April and after reading lots of horror stories about the tablet and the pain I braced myself the worst and I literally had NO PAIN!! but everything did come out like they told me it would ( must of been one of the lucky ones to have had no pain)
Went for a rescan 29th April and they told me a little bit of the retrained products remain but told me they would work it's way out itself

I have been bleeding for just over 3 weeks now.. and just want to know when do you start trying again, this would of been our first baby and my first mmc of any kind. I know once the bleeding stops they say you can try agin and we are more than ready but should I be giving my body more time to rest and recover?

Have you been bleeding continuously these last few weeks? They suggest waiting for your first period to enable accurate dating of a pregnancy, but I think it's ok. I had significant problems with retained products, and even though I was told it would come out on its own, it never did on three occasions, so perhaps if you dint get a proper period it might be worth another scan just to confirm it's all gone, just for peace of mind xx

I have been bleeding for 4 weeks exactly tomorrow. It's very light at times then can be a little heavy but nothing major at all.
It is normal to bleed for a while after medical management I've heard.
I've done a pregnancy test and all negative but I think I'll call the hospital Monday and ask for another rescan to 100% check.

I am sure you are absolutely fine but there's nothing like a double check to save yourself any potential heartache, I wouldn't want anyone else to go through what I went through xx

Oh no was yours really heart breaking was it :( it sounds like you dealt with a lot.

I think I may ring then back today and just explain it is negative but i think I would like to be re scanned for peace of mind do you think they would mind about that? xx

Sadly yes, I had retained products for 10 months with my second miscarriage, which was very hard to deal with, and we lost all that time as well. I think there's no harm in asking if you have any concerns at all. I only knew things weren't right as kept having irregular bleeding. Best of luck xx

Sorry to hear you're going through this. I had a mmc last March, really similar to you except I had an erpc. After the bleeding stopped I waited for one period, just to give myself time to recover. I wasn't told to wait but I'm glad I did, that first proper period was awful, very painful and the stuff that came out was nothing like my normal period, so I think my womb needed that time to get back to normal. I conceived quite quickly after that though, and now have an 8 week old dd.

I know it's hard as it kind of feels like a race to be pregnant again and get back to where you were, but give yourself time if you need it.

I had a "straightforward" miscarriage - if there is such a thing - a few years back in December. It took a big emotional toll on me, so it was about 7 months before I was ready to try again. Like Swearwolf, I conceived the first month of trying, and DS is now 7yo.

Sometimes it seems like our bodies need to have a bit of a clear out before they're ready for a baby. Hope it works out for you too.

I am Jjst abit confused as to what to do as the pregnancy test does say negative no hint of a positive in there should I call up and ask for a re scan as if retained products are left can they cause any harm to the next baby? or to yourself that's all I'm worried about? xxx

When you retained products did you know because it was giving you any pain/ infection or just because you was still bleeding or?,..

I hope I haven't panicked you, I understand mine was a very rare case. If it's negative you are probably fine, but there is probably no harm phoning up and checking. I just had irregular bleeding, so other symptoms at all xx

I'm sorry for your loss OP. I'm the same as swearwolf, I was advised by one doc in the hospital to wait 3 months but when I asked again someone else said to wait for a period which I did. I'm glad I waited, not only for emotional reasons but the period was pretty horrific (I don't mean to scare you with this detail, hopefully it's not like that for everybody.)
I was very lucky to concieve again in the month after that, and my 4 month old son is napping next to me as I type.
I think as long as you have stopped bleeding and have had a negative test then you are ok to try again. It wouldn't harm to call your epu about the bleeding, they will probably want to do a quick check to make sure there is no infection.

Oh no you haven't panicked me at all I just don't really know what to do for the best.
I had anti biotics as I was so scared of infection I went to the doctors and he prescribed me some for a week course I mean I had no signs of infection but I wanted to be 100% sure I had no infection and that was around the 27th April and my re scan was the. 29th April when they told am there was a little bit of retained products but they were so close to the neck of the womb they said they will come out and I didn't need to make another appointment for a re scan they said but I am jisy worried it's not all gone and I am still bleeding this would be 4 weeks and 3 days now since I took medical management however the bleeding is nothing at all it's so light do you think j am slowly coming to the end of the bleeding? and also could this be a period bleed? or would I have my period a few weeks after do you think? xx

I'm in the same boat as you really. I MC'd 4 weeks ago and really want to get ring again. 1st pregnancy, it was. When I called the Miscarriage Association, I spoke with the lady about feeling very scared about trying as I think I'll be panicked at everything that happens if I get pregnant again. She said to wait a month for dating reasons, but that my pregnancy innocence was lost now and it's always gonna be at the back of my mind.
For me, that's true, but for others, I'm sure they'll be able to be positive.
We're gonna wait till August to try, just cuz of practical things like moving etc. Hope it doesn't take too long!

Ohh yeah they say it's all for dating purposes don't they so they can accurately date it!! August isn't far away at all is it :) good luck to you and your have to let me know when you get that positive pregnancy test :)

I have stopped bleeding this week.. I wa going to call the doctor and say I was stil bleeding but luckily it stopped so I didn't need to call :) I have started takin the folic acid tablets everyday in preparation for when we try again in July!!
