is this normal

Yesterday I started bleeding lightly. I knew I was going to miscarry as I had an early scan that showed that the sac was empty. Today I'm passing clots the size of my fist I've gone through 4 pairs of trousers as within 5 minuets I've soaked them trough. I feel dizzy and sweaty and shakey. Is this normal?

I don't think it's 'abnormal' however, if you're soaking a pad in an hour(which it sounds like you are) then you need to go to hospital.

Are you in a lot of pain, could that lead to the dizzy and shakey? It sounds like you've lost a fair amount of blood so better to be safe than sorry and pop off to a&e.

I know it's probably the last place you want to go but I think you probably should.

I'm soaking a pad in 5 mins. I really don't want to go to a&e I've got 2 dc and dps working late tonight and I've got nobody else to watch them. My tummy feels really sore. Thank you for your advice I think if it hasn't slowed down by the time dp comes back I'll at least phone 111.

That's really tough, especially with 2 DC at home. 111 is a good idea, I strongly suspect they will tell you if you're flooding a pad that quickly you'll need to see a doc.

Are you still feeling sweaty and shakey? Is the sore tummy contraction like pains in your uterus or is it pain in your stomach?

I have not had a 'natural' miscarriage, mine were medically managed at hospital and a bit later on. My 14 week loss I had a huge gush after I'd delivered ds but it was one gush and not sustained.

Yes there a bit like contraction pains. Quite low down. Still feel shakey I'm going to have a sweet cup of tea to try and help. I'm sorry about your losses this is my 4th now x

Have you called 111 yet? Might be an idea to get some medical advice

I don't want to frighten you jut when I was like that I resisted going to hospital for ages, only to be rushed in with dangerously high blood pressure.

I had to go in to hospital when I was soaking through a pad in a short amount of time (and I really was). You have to be careful as your losing blood very quickly. I was put on a drip over night and got good pain relief for my stomach pains.
Best to go to hospital and get checked out

The bleeding has slowed a bit now I had a big gush and a massive clot and its slowed down. I haven't had to change my trousers in over half hour I've had to put everything in a black bag because I don't think I'll be able to wash them. Dps on his was home. If bleeding picks again I'll go a&e and he can watch dc.

It may be that you've passed most of the sack and tissue now.

Please do see someone if it is not considerably lighter very soon (I'd say go anyway once dp gets home) loosing that much blood so quickly can make you very poorly.

Even if it does improve drastically tonight I would plan a very gentle and restful couple of days, you're likely to be physically shattered after this (not to mention emotionally, especially after 4 MC, I cannot imagine)

Bleeding is still slow. Managed to have a good wash. I'm not soaking trough pads now I've had this one on over a hour. I'm in bed dcs are fast asleep. Thank you for all your advice I will go to gp tomorrow at least to get a check over. This is the worst I've suffered. The last ones were quite quick but this has knocked me about I feel like I've been kicked about 20 times.

Poor you op. look after yourself as losing a lot of blood can make you very ill, definitely get checked out tomorrow. I felt rotten for about three weeks after my first MC, when I lost a lot of blood and was close to transfusion (and was on a drip to get BP back up). Lots of good iron rich food and rest if you can (hard with two little ones I know).

I think seeing the GP today is a good idea just to give you a check over and see you're all ok (as OK as you're going to be in this situation)

wonky so sorry u have had such a rough time. I had very bleeding with my first mc and ended up in hospital after passing out several times with all the blood loss. I needed drips etc. It was horrible and I felt awful. Absolutely shattered and very unwell for a few weeks. Blood loss is quite debilitating. I hope u get some good support from the GP today. If they don't check you blood levels or give u iron tablets I would suggest keeping ur fluids up, eating well and try to eat iron rich foods. I think it would be a good idea to use floradix if u can. It's an iron multivitamin tonic which u can get in most supermarkets and boots as well as health food shops. Just be really kind to urself. It's an awful thing to happen emotionally and on top of that, blood loss on that scale is physically exhausting and will need a bit of time to recover from.

Phoned gp they can't get me in till Monday no emergency Appointments left but if one becomes available they will phone me. I have some iron tablets left from when I had ds could I take one of them for now. I feel better today less blood but still sore. I had a good nights sleep. Well as well as you can with a teething 9mo! Thank you everybody for all your advice and kind words. Mumsnet has some really amazing people on it and I'm sorry for everybody else's losses

If you start feeling faint again or like your heart is racing phone them right back. I cant believe they have left you till Monday!

My gps is terrible only one dr works there. You can never get an appointment unless you phone 2 weeks before ur I'll. The only reason I've stayed is because they always get the dcs in on the same day no matter what. I'm having a lazy day today watching orange is the black.
