Scan at 10 weeks, nothing seen - likely to be MMC?

Just went for a dating scan. They could only see the sac, nothing inside.
Dates of ovulation and DTD make it 10 weeks.

There's a tiny theoretical possiblity that it could be 7 weeks, if I had an incredibly late ovulation date with no EWCM/pain (I always get EWCM and pain), then a positive pregnancy test straight after conception.

But they'd probably have seen something, if no heartbeat, if it were 7 weeks, correct?

So probably a MMC. Waiting for results from the scan - which, here, take 2 weeks

How soon after conception did you get a test?

Tested 3.5 weeks after ovulation (ovulation as judged by characteristic one-sided sharp abdominal pain and lots of EWCM).

DTD enough times to not know which might have led to conception and thus the (unlikely) possibility that conception could be up to 3 weeks later than I thought.

I still feel pregnant now - huge boobs that grew 3 cup sizes in a couple of weeks, feeling sick and headachy and very tired. Not that that means anything much.

So sorry that you're in this situation - its a horrible wait for the next scan :(

A similar thing happened to me a couple of years ago - the sac was about the right size for 10 weeks but was empty. At the next scan a fetal pole had begun to grow but still no heartbeat and I eventually had to have a D&C.

However, my pregnancy symptoms very clearly stopped at around 7 weeks, and I think deep down I 'knew' that it wasn't right. I have heard stories about small miracles where for some reason the ultrasound didn't quite pick things up and everything turned out just fine - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

So sorry you're going through this. Even if you were 7 weeks, a heartbeat and fetal pole should definitely still be visible at that stage.

I've been in this horrible limbo too. My only advice is to rest as much as you can, plan some nice things and use the boards here for support; they are amazing.

Thanks to a good midwife, I'm already being referred to the local EPAU before the ultrasound results are back. EPAU "will phone back in a week or two" - hopefully sooner.

Have now been told I need to wait 2 weeks for a followup scan, in the hope that I will miscarry naturally (currently have no symptoms of impending miscarriage - blighted ovum seems to be doing totally fine). And that there will then be a one-week-or-more wait for misoprostol after that, and they only do D&C if there's evidence of retained tissue several weeks after misoprostol, and that i might need to wait until there is a space on the surgical list as D&C for RPoC is apparently "elective". By the time misoprostol is given I'll be 14 weeks. I will be 19 weeks by the time I'm even eligible for D&C.

Seems a bit barbaric, to put it mildly. I put this to the people at the EPAU and they said "well you'll know to have private health insurance next time, dear, won't you"

Note to the UK: don't lose the NHS or you might end up with a broken hospital system like this country's.

That is awful. Had I chosen either surgery or misoprostol I could have had either within a week and follow up within another week. EPAC saw me that same day every time except once, when they got gynae to squeeze me in.
