Miscarriage at 5ish weeks: What now?

So earlier, I found out I'm 5 weeks pregnant and then begin miscarrying on the same day . I've just passed two clots, one is the size of a 50p piece (sorry for TMI) and I'm experiencing increasingly painful waves of period type pain, so I guess this is it. This probably sounds really stupid, but do I have to do anything or tell anyone? I didn't really get the chance to think about being pregnant as I only found out today, so I'm not sure I'm "with it" iyswim. I just feel like crap. Any help would be gratefully received.

You don't have to tell anyone. It's up to you if you feel like you need to talk it over with anyone but your body will do everything. It will be like a heavy sore period with a sore back. Get into your pjs with some nighttime pads with a hot water bottle , some painkillers, a box of chocs and some DVDs . In a couple of days things start to get easier. Big hugs.

Thinking of you, I'm going through it too, I was seven weeks. Today is the first day of proper bleeding. It's not just the physical pain but the mental pain too. I hope we both start to feel better soon. The biggest love to you x

I would suggest that you go to your local Early Pregnancy Unit. They can scan you to ensure that everything has gone (sorry, can't think of a better way to express it).

One of my miscarriages was at 6 weeks and I didn't pass anything that looked like a sac (I think my body had absorbed it). Instead I bled for two weeks and had some cramping right at the end where I passed some small clots.

I'm struggling with the quantity of blood loss (more than I would expect) so will prob call my GP on Mon re. seeing EPU. Very different to the last time I was there

I def passed something sac like (sorry for TMI) yday when I was having what can only be described as mild contractions

Very lucky to have two amazing DCs already so taking comfort in them. Just feels a bit surreal to find out then miscarry all at once...

How are you doing today? What a horrible weekend eh? I think I passed the sac yesterday, but I couldn't look ( sorry TMI) at work today feeling empty and angry, slight cramping and bleeding xx

Hi 3u4 Thank you for thinking of me when you're going through this too. So sorry you've had to endure that this weekend and that you're feeling so rubbish.

I ended up in A&E with suspected ectopic and have just been discharged. It's most likely that I've had a complete miscarriage (and it wasn't ectopic) but I'm having my bloods redone tomorrow as a scan was inconclusive. I am taking the next couple of days off (as well as today) until I've stopped bleeding so heavily (it's made me feel very faint) and until the pain is under control. I veer between emptiness to sadness to sheer disbelief regularly.

You too, sounds like you've had a hell of a day. Chocolate, hot water bottle and a dvd. I've been taking some multivitamins with added iron. My scan is Friday my bleeding has gone very light, think my body is fighting it, which is heartbreaking, really don't want a D&C. Hugs and lots of love. x

My bloods showed that the HCG more than doubled??! Have scan booked for Tues in the hope there will be more conclusive news, one way or the other. Still bleeding on and off but pain gone, so no idea what's going on.
