Anyone had a molar pregnancy?

Hi All,

I'm hoping to find someone else who has had a molar pregnancy who could help me with what happens in terms of treatment and monitoring afterwards. And how long the results of histology take to come through?

I have had a missed miscarriage diagnosed at 10+5. Baby stopped developing at 6 weeks. I then started naturally miscarrying but 3 days later was still sent for an ERPC as they suspected that I might have a partial molar pregnancy.

ERPC was a week ago on Monday, 20th. I am now waiting for the histology results to come through. Anyone have any idea how long this takes? And what happens next if they do confirm that it was a molar pregnancy?

I've googled around and have found quite a bit of information, but I still have so many questions & it would be really good to hear from anyone who has been through it.

Thanks
Neha

sorry for your loss - I've bumped up the molar support thread for you.

Hi nehagarg I had a complete molar pregnancy. My histology took a while to come through but the treatment centre were in contact quite quickly. I had to send wee samples in the post to the treatment centre. Once my hcg had returned to 0 I had to send samples off for 6 months before I got the all clear to ttc. I did not require any treatment. I'm so sorry, it's a real shock and nobody really understands Flowers

Thanks bakingtins

Thanks Purple ... You are right - its horrible. Specially since the one thing that can really help you get over the pain of a MC - to try again - is taken away from you and you are asked to wait months. :( ... Thanks so much for the info. It really helps. Sorry that you had to go through this too. What treatment centre were you with? Charing cross?

I'm in Scotland so my treatment centre was Dundee, fingers crossed your levels drop quickly and you won't need to wait that long to ttc

I had a molar pregnancy in 2003, and was treated at Charing Cross, I found the women on the phone lines there very supportive and helpful.

The waiting is horrible, much love to you. X

Thanks hazeyjane - I called them yesterday to see if I had been referred yet and they were super nice. What a change after being poked and prodded and being told that the baby is probably dead by unfeeling NHS people.

Purple thanks a lot. Hugs to both of you and anyone who has lost a pregnancy this way. Its the worst way to go through something that is horrible to begin with.

Hi neha. I've just been diagnosed as having had partial molar and am being referred to Charing Cross. No advice but perhaps we can hand hold.

nehagarg · 28/04/2015 10:26

Hi twilight … I am so sorry to hear that .. Hopefully, your hCG will drop super quick and you wont have to wait too long!

I haven't received a confirmed diagnosis yet but they seemed to think on the scan that it was a partial molar. So they did an ERPC but i started naturally miscarrying before I could go in for the ERPC. Now I am just hoping that they found enough tissue left over to test conclusively.

When are your first samples due? I believe charing cross send them in within a week? Hugs

Mine was confirmed today from histology results. Doc said to expect Charing Cross to phone in next few days. I haven't had bleeding and erpc was a while back so he was fairly optimistic that there won't be problems.

Sorry you're going through it too - must be tough to have it all going on at the same time. My miscarriage was a while back so have kind of processed it as best you can.

nehagarg · 28/04/2015 10:43

How long was it between your ERPC and your histology results? I was told a few days to a week. My ERPC was Monday last week, so I am awaiting results now.

I am glad that you havent had any bleeding etc. Mine has tapered off within a week of the ERPC too and I only have very light brown spotting now (sorry, tmi) … Hopeful that that will stop soon too.

I just want to try again :(

It was ages. Approx two months - but that was because a molar wasn't expected and it was done routinely because of recurrent miscarriage.

I know re. Just wanting to try again. 6 month break apparently. Sigh.

Purplefrogshoes · 28/04/2015 13:01

I'm so sorry twilight if your levels have dropped you may not need to wait 6 months. Hugs xxx

Hugs for you too neha hope your doing ok

nehagarg · 28/04/2015 13:56

twilight bestest of luck to us both. I hope this is over asap!
