progesterone

I have had several miscarriages between 5 and 9 weeks and have been prescribed progesterone to take when I next get pregnant.

Well it seems we may be at that stage. I'm 2-3 days late and am thinking I need to test sooner rather than later so I can get the progesterone started if I am.

Has anyone here tried progesterone? How did you get on? Silly question buy how is it taken? I've heard from different ladies of different ages whove ranged from injections to pessaries :-/ this is all new to me and I'm a little scared! Thank you

Hello, I've tried pessaries and am currently using them. They are a bit messy but I've heard you can reduce this by using the back entrance!!
Have also heard you should lie down for half an hour after inserting - this is fine at night but I've never managed it in the morning.
There are conflicting views on the effectiveness of progesterone but it's worth a shot and could be the answer for some women.

For me progesterone was taken either vaginally or anally. I found taking the one that could be taken anally more convenient.

Unfortunately for me it just changed my miscarrying from 4-7 weeks, to miscarrying between 7-12 weeks. So I don't have a positive story, but some people do find it helps, I hope it helps you.

Thank you ladies. The pushing back of the inevitable is what I'm worried about the 9 week loss was by far the hardest both physically and emotionally for me.

I took progesterone after 4 mmc. Given I never mc naturally I wasn't sure this was going to work for me but it's uses were explained and that pregnancy resulted in DS (I had to take it from 7 dpo until 12 weeks).

I had the pessaries and they were a bit messy but I would pop it in before I got up in the morning and lie down so it wasn't too bad.

I have it with my ivfs, I always used pessaries but asked to change to intramuscular injections this time and I got my first bfp in 7 years and 4 ivfs. I didn't feel I was absorbing enough from the pessaries. I also agree back in the morning as you don't have to lie down and front at bed time
