Could someone please help, my head is soooo confused!
I was 6 weeks pregnant, started cramping and passing clots. This lasted 5 days. A week later I go to EPU, they scan and say no sign of baby. Not ectopic either. Prep test says positive still. Hcg level is 758. Got to go back in 48 hours for another blood test. Is there any chance or have I miscarried??

Betty I'm not sure on that one - could your dates be wrong ?

There are some knowledgable ladies on this thread.....

I'm not sure if this is the case for an early mc but when my dd2 was stillborn at 22 weeks I was told there would be enough hcg left in my system for up to 6 weeks to give a positive pregnancy test.

It may be the same with you. It takes a while for the hormone levels to get back to normal.

Sorry you've had to go through that. X

Thanks. Thought it was a done deal, just feeling a bit sad.

Betty I'm so sorry, it is really sad.

I'm not going to give you any cliched platitudes. Loosing a baby is shit and it hurts like hell.

Do what you need to to recover physically. Take as much time as you need and ignore the 'you can always try again' type comments. Allow yourself to feel whatever it is you need to.

So sorry to hear you're going through this Betty.
Even after a pregnancy had ended HCG levels take a wee while to come down which would explain the positive tests.

The next 48 hours will be hard for you, and I'm sorry to say it isn't looking very positive from what you've posted, but it is still possible that you could have a viable pregnancy. I have been where you are now, more than once, and I've had different outcomes. I'm not trying to give you false hope, and I would suggest you prepare for bad news in a couple of days, but it is possible you might get good news too.

Lovemylittlebear · 16/04/2015 20:34

when I had my miscarriages it took 2-3 weeks for it to drop to no longer pregnant levels. When I had the ectopic it took a lot longer (about a month/5 weeks). Sorry to hear your sad news :( xxx

Betty so sorry you are going through this!! I had a MMC in December ... At 9 weeks baby was only around 5 and I had medical management! Even thought Evans showed an empty womb afterwards my HPT were still positive for 9 weeks and only got my first AF in march! It's a horrible vonfusing time and no one prepares you for the constant BFPS! You have lots of support here xxxx

Any update Betty? hope it's a more positive result. I was told at the hospital that these fancy new tests that test even earlier are a pain in the bum to them because people find out so early and when things like this happen they can not find things on the scan because its often earlier than they realised. A large number of pregnancies fail without us even knowing we are pregnant we just have a bleed around the time our periods would start but because of the advanced tests were finding out so much sooner which can be heartbreaking.

People can bleed in pregnancy and go on to have a healthy pregnancy I did with my First born.

I can totally relate to how horrible 48 hours of waiting is :(. Last Tuesday morning I started bleeding at 7 weeks and I too had a scan and found no baby ( was told it could be too early if my dates were wrong) My HCG was 526 but unfortunately by the Thursday it was 370 and I had it again Saturday and it was 131 :( So I didn't get good news but I made a thread on Pregnancy about it and some of the time it is because people mix up their dates and it's too early to see anything.

It is a horrible confusing time :( I can relate to that xxx
