6 weeks pregnant, is there hope?

Hi guys, I stated to bleed yesterday afternoon and contacted NHS24. They sent me to the hospital and I had an exam, I passed a couple of small clots but nothing extreme. They booked me in for an ultrasound on Tuesday and sent me home. I was told that my cervix was very slightly open and as I have no children this was unusual. I was fine all night and then this afternoon I have started to bleed again although very lightly this time. I am terrified this is my first pregnancy. Am I right to have hope or have I lost my baby?

It's hard to say. Your cervix open isn't a good sign. Is the blood red? If so this is fresh blood. If brown, it's old blood.

Until you have the scan it's very hard to know. I've had 3 mc's in the last year so I feel your fear.

It is possible for you to bleed and everything to be ok so please don't give up hope just yet. But I do think you need to prepare yourself for the worst. I hope it's all ok though

Look after yourself

It was bright red, now it's all dark. Tuesday just feels far away. I'm still having all the pregnancy symptoms I was having before but I know that's not proof of anything.

MrsShand, really sorry you have to go through this worry. My miscarriages usually started with brown spotting and in my first full term pregnancy I had bright red spotting twice in second trimester. So there are no hard and fast rules but agree with Brummie that cervix sounds a bit worrying.
But crossing fingers for you.

Just thought I'd update. Had a scan and they can't see anything but I'm still testing positive on a pregnancy test. The don't think it looks ectopic so they're checking to see if I might not be as far on as was originally thought. I've had blood tests done today and they'll compare them to new results in 48 hours. Fingers crossed.

Thank you everyone for all your help. Levels dropped from 119 on Tuesday to 32 today. I have lost my little bean.

I'm so sorry, MrsShand. I had a mc in November and still finding it very hard, although time has helped a bit. Be kind to yourself and let yourself heal. Thinking of you.
