Have I lost my baby?

Hello all,

I am hoping someone/anyone may have some positive stories however I just want my mind put to rest either way. I started bleeding early Thursday morning where there was blood when I wiped. Went for internal scan where they can see baby but dated pregnancy at 6 weeks and can not see heart beat yet so I have to go back next Thursday. However since this the bleeding is worse (filing one pad a day) and last night something was in the toilet with a thick tough skin and very bloody inside (sorry for tmi) was this my baby? Apart from this I have had one other clot and no cramps at all and bleeding slowing. Would you call the doctors and ask for bloods or hold out until Thursday for the next scan? I have had no pregnancy symtoms through this pregnancy at all.
Thanks all for your advice

I'm sorry you're going through this. I'd ring and explain and ask if the scan can be brought forward, and have your mind put at rest

Thank u! The epu is shit today and I know they won't see me today without bad cramps or very heavy bleeding so I will push tomorrow

I wouldn't usually recommend this but lie. Tell them you're having cramping too and get seen today.

When I was pregnant with my first DC, I passed a massive blood clot on a Sunday morning at about 7 weeks gone . This was the culmination of five days of on and off bleeding.

All pregnancy symptoms disappeared too so I spend a hideous day crying and worrying.

Had an internal scan the next day and my DS was fine. He's now a gorgeous six year old.

I never got to the bottom of why I bled and I didn't have any with my DD.

I hope all is OK OP.

Thanks for that Sally! This does make me feel a bit better however have now just passed a second large clot which is very tough. The weird thing is I still have no pain and the bleeding is getting less and less. I would love for an outcome likes yours Sally.
I still haven't called as don't want to be seen as the time waster but I will 100% push to be seen tomorrow xx

If you haven't got pain that's a good thing as I know that friends who have miscarried said they had cramps but I'm no expert.

Bleeding in the early stages is very common especially if it looks like old blood.

I hope you get seen tomorrow. I'm sure all will be ok.

Ag77 I am in a similar situation to you right now. I'm only 5 1/2 weeks but have been having heavy-ish, bright red bleeding and cramps since this morning. I'm feeling so sad. I hope it works out ok for both of us Flowers

Ag77 · 29/03/2015 19:46

Hi marysprayer thanks for your message. Have you managed to see anyone yet? It is so sad and like you say really hoping we both get positive news xx

Thanks Ag77. I haven't seen anyone yet. My epu unit requires a referral so I am planning to see my gp 1st thing tomorrow. I've been bleeding quite heavily all day now though so I'm expecting the worst. I'm not even six weeks yet so they may not even offer me a scan.

What are your plans now? Your symptoms sound less severe. Good luck. xx

Brummiegirl15 · 30/03/2015 09:05

Ag and Marysprayer I'm do sorry you are going through this. I'm afraid it doesn't sound very good for either of you. I've had 3 x mc's in the last year.

Bright red blood is fresh and not a good sign. Marysprayer I had my first mc at your stage and no, it's highly unlikely you'll get a scan.

I'm so so sorry to be negative, but I do think you need to prepare yourself for bad news. Yes there are times when it means nothing and baby is fine but this early, it's usually sad news.

Sending you lots of hugs. Look after yourselves Flowers

MarysPrayer · 30/03/2015 09:13

Thank you brummiegirl. I appreciate your honesty.

MarysPrayer · 30/03/2015 09:16

I'm also really sorry to hear that you've been through this three times. It's heartbreaking. Sad

Ag77 · 30/03/2015 11:06

I spoke to Epu this morning and they won't see me till Thursday as they said it still doesn't sound like a miscarriage atm as I have not bled heavy and only the 2 clots. I am trying to stay as positive as pos however I still think the worse but then get these little glimmer of hopes thrown at me. It's awful and so confusing I just want to know one way or another. Marysprayer I hope you get an apt and let us know how you get on. Brummiegirl im sure you are completely right and so sorry this has happened to u so many times. Xxx

Thank you ladies. It's horrendous and not something we ever thought we'd go through. For me now not even a positive test or a scan means anything. My advice absolutely is prepare for the worst, but remember it's not over until it's over and sometimes it's just a bit of freak bleeding. That does happen! Good luck both of you xx

jassS · 30/03/2015 15:54

So sorry you are foing through this. Unfortnately, Cramps and pain are not a "must " in this very sad situation of early mc. If I mc before 6w it is not worse than a period. And I have done it more than 10 times, so I do not bother with so early ones to even go to docs and request a scan.

The only way to know things might not be going wrong is if pregnancy homrones keep rising, so if poss try to get two beta hcgs done with two days in between, if scan is not on offer.
If this can not be done, you might try a home hpt and if test line is much weaker than control you at least have your answer. If it is steonger than control, then you still have hope. Even if hpts are not meant for quantitative analysis, they actually give quite good indication on where things are going. If hcg is in thousands. line is stronger than control and you might be not having a mc (though of course it does not rule it out, just then there is still hope). If line is really weak, it is below 1000 and you at least will know where you stand. With this sorry scenario, frankly there is not much point even to go to epu, easier to wait and see if your test turns neg conpletely. If it does you are over it anyway and may as well save yourself the trouble of running between the doctors.
As Brummie said, it is not over until it is over and lets hope you both are just having a bad scare!

MarysPrayer · 01/04/2015 09:22

Thinking of you today Ag77. I really hope you get good news.

Sadly it wasn't to be for me. My bleeding was just too heavy. Your symptoms are very different though so fingers crossed for you. Flowers

MarysPrayer · 01/04/2015 09:24

Sorry, I've just realised it's only Wednesday Blush . I hope tomorrow goes well for you. xx

Ag77 · 02/04/2015 16:17

I'm so sorry ag77. You're right though, we have a lovely dc already and should look to the future with hope. If/when you feel up to it, there is a 'ttc after mc' thread on the conception pages. I joined yesterday and everyone is very welcoming. In the meantime, take care. xx
