Small bleed and empty sac at 6 weeks, any hope?

Hi, I am 6w2d pregnant with my third child, pretty sure of my dates. I had a small amount of bright red blood yesterday but no cramping except maybe some low level backache. I went to the maternity a&e where they did an internal scan and could only see a small empty sac (it looked very small compared to the uterus but the doctor didn't say exact size). I have to go back on Friday for a follow up scan. I've had no further bleeding but am feeling pretty negative and expecting the worst.
Is there any point hoping at all? I don't think my dates could be out by more than a day or so.
Thank you for any insight you might have..

I recently had an early scan a 7w due to a previous miscarriage and it show that I had an empty sac with a small bleed around it, but the couldn't tell me anymore, I had to go back after 10days and there had been growth and a yolk sac present then back a week later but sadly it wasn't good news for me. In the time between scans I had read up a lot on similar things happening to others and they now have a healthy baby to show for it. I was also very negative about the whole situation but always had a glimmer of hope in the back of my mind and that's what kept me going in between scans, so don't give up hope u could b one of the lucky ones, I have my fingers crossed for u xx

I have been in a similar situation and unfortunately it wasn't good news for me and I had a mmc at the end of February. For every story with a negative, there are lots with positives so please don't lose faith.

I really hope you get some reassurance at the scan on Friday. Its awful being in limbo, sending you some virtual hugs to keep you going Flowers

Thanks so much for your replies, and I'm sorry for what you went through yourselves.
I started bleeding yesterday evening and it has got heavier with cramping, so I have my answer :-( In a way, it makes it easier knowing for sure, but I am having some very sad moments too. I know though that I am already so very lucky to have two healthy children.
Thank you again for your support.
