Hello

I posted in conception but here is probably a better place I think

I am (was?) by my calculation 6 weeks pregnant. I have had positive tests since a day or two before my missed period, getting stronger and stronger.

I suddenly decided to do a test today and one came back positive (a Boots one) but the internet cheapie ones all came back negative.

I guess this means I am going to miscarry?

Duff batch of tests? Is there a difference in sensitivity - if the Boots one detects lower levels and your HCG is fallng it could be low enough to be negative on a cheapie but positive on a more sensitive one? I think I'd go buy another decent one tomorrow before drawng any conclusions.

I thought the Internet ones were more sensitive but maybe not. Have had positives from the same (massive) bag of tests so don't think duff batch.

What prompted you to test? Have you had spotting or cramping? Have any symptoms disappeared?

stopeatingbiscuits · 05/03/2015 21:21

Nothing at all - I expected to see a positive tbh, I am just a bit neurotic. No cramps or spotting. It was about now I started to get morning sickness with my other two pregnancies so was wondering if I would soon.

I found he opposite. With my miscarriage at eight weeks I still got positive tests for two weeks after because of the hormones in my system. They don't go away overnight. It was a real kick in the teeth tbh.

If you have other reasons to worry then phone your GP or go to epu. But I would say one negative test doesn't mean much if you are sill getting positives.

Well it's more that I got one positive test today (the Boots one) and about five negative ones (the internet ones). I did think it took a while for the HCG Togo from your system but perhaps it doesn't. Or can take a day or two (strong positives a couple days ago).

Hi stopeatingbiscuits,
Thought I'd come up with an original username, worked through Onemorechocolate (already in use), Onelastchocolate (never true)... but you've beaten me to biscuit-derived moniker!
Anyway... I saw on Amazon that there are some negative reviews for what are sold as highly sensitive tests, because they're not actually that sensitive.

stopeatingbiscuits · 09/03/2015 09:20

Ha! Well they were accurate enough for me, this one has not stuck sadly. Onwards and upwards I hope Sad
