hpt and opk test result confusion

I had a mmc resolved surgically on Friday and I felt my bleeding was coming to an end so I did a quick hpt today and still got a very strong, instant bfp Sad
As they arrived at the same time I did a quick opk at the same time as I was unfamiliar with them. It also came up with a strong positive (test line twice as dark as control) Weirdly enough I did have strong ov signs recently but dismissed them as strange hormonal changes.
Anyone any idea what is going on? Is the opk result invalid when hcg is present?
Is it normal to still get a strong bfp when the bleeding is stopping or should I ask for scan and blood test?
Should I just chill out and give it a few weeks and stop obsessing? WinkBlush

Hi, I'm so sorry for your loss Flowers

I would have thought that OPK results would be invalid. As for the BFP, I think this will take some time. I was told to wait 2 weeks after I stopped bleeding to test, and only go back to the hospital then if still +ve (luckily it was -ve, a strange kind of relief).

Take care of yourself x

OPKs can detect HCG as it is similar to LH. Doesn't work the other way around though. I had a positive OPK when I did my HPT too. Line was faint on HPT so I did OPK just out of curiosity.

Opk's can turn positive with HCG unfortunately and HCG can remain in your system for a few weeks!! You should normally get a BFN within 2 weeks of MC but be prepared for this might may not happening ..... I had medical management on 22 dec and only got my negative 2 weeks ago ..... That was 9 weeks post MC and it completely destroyed my having to take tests every week!!

Try and stay strong .... It gets easier xxx

I've done one this morning and it was the faintest I've seen a test in a long time! When I first did a test at start of pregnancy it was so instantly dark and has been for ages but this morning it was faint hopefully in another week it will be negative

Thinking of you .... It's hard doing the test looking for negative xx
