How much pain is normal?

That probably sounds like a silly question but I'm in need of re-assurance please? Found out on Friday, after some heavy bleeding, that there was no heartbeat and baby had stopped growing at 5 weeks. Feel like the natural miscarriage process has started now and I'm in absolute agony, waves of pain like early labour and Paracetamol just doesn't touch it. Called the EPU and there's no one to see me tonight and they said it's better managed at home. Not passing much blood but just in pain. Can anyone give me any words of advice? When will it end?! Sad

I'm sorry you're going through this. Is there someone with you?
The labour like pains are a sign of things moving on, I was bleeding during them. I jammed my back against a radiator and/ or walked & got a hot shower on my lower back (much like labour).

If you get dizzy, rest. You will probably feel you need the toilet a lot, it may even turn into a bit of a bathroom campout. Get some music, any distractions you can.
I hope your partner is with you. Get plenty of fluids too.

Thank you flora. I think I've posted this thread twice! Yes, have got help and have taken some stronger painkillers which seem to have taken the edge off. Got a hot water bottle thanks to your advice. Gosh I really wasn't expecting this level of pain. I guess the worst is still to come.

Glad that there is someone there. Painkillers are great, it's no time to try and be a hero.
Treat yourself as you would if a dear friend was going through this. Don't push yourself to do any jobs etc.
