Still bleeding 6 weeks after ERPC

Hi everyone! I had a missed miscarriage and ERPC at 12 weeks (baby was 9 weeks). This was 6 weeks ago. I bled for a week solid and then on and off for another 2.Then 4 weeks after ERPC had what I thought and felt like a period. So I thought I'd recovered and am back on my normal cycle. But then a few days after the 'period' ended had cramps and fresh blood. A few days later again cramping and blood. I did a pregnancy test and am not pregnant. At the moment I am spotting and have some period-like pain (stomach and lower back). Is it normal? Should I be worried? Whom should I see - the GP, the Emergency Gyne Unit where I had the operation? I am just fed up with these constant reminders of what has happened and what to put it behind me.

Hi valeria it's not uncommon for cycles to be a bit screwy for several months post MC but since you have bleeding and pain I think you should be checked out for retained fragments or infection. If you have a direct number for the gynae unit I'd try them first, cut out the middleman as I assume the GP would refer you. In my area you need a Gp referral for EPU/gynae but they will fax one after a phone consultation but if it's an issue related to an ERPC they may well see you without Gp referral. Hope you get reassurance and that it all settles down for you soon.
