Currently 10+5, lost all symptoms. Nuchal scan not until NYE. Had first midwife appt a week ago, she tried Doppler and couldn't find hb. She wasn't concerned, just said it was early and placenta could be anterior (DD had anterior placenta so I'm familiar with that making it more difficult to feel movement or find hb). Had a scan at 7+2 which found hb and measuring 3 days behind but no issues.

4 years ago, before DD, I had an mmc not picked up til nuchal scan, and it was in December so I'm really struggling with the memories of that horrible Christmas and hoping to God that it hasn't happened again. No bleeding at all, some crampy pain now and again, but I'm just convinced something's gone wrong. Ahhhh!!!

I'm sorry but the midwife should NOT be checking for hb with a Doppler at this point. Even at 16 week appointment a lot have stopped doing it as it's so easy not to find at this stage and cause unnecessary worry. Symptoms can come and go and I completely understand why you'd be anxious but things are about to get really hectic so can you distract yourself for a little while longer? Unless you've heavy bleeding and a lot of pain you shouldn't worry (easier said than done I know). Hope you manage to get some rest

I agree with sparkle MW should not be trying to find HB so early. They are not even supposed to do it at 16w check because inability to find it does not trigger a scan and causes much anxiety. It's common for symptoms to lessen at 10 ish weeks because the placenta takes over. But now you are worried
In your shoes I personally would pay for a private scan because I would not be able to enjoy Christmas worrying about a MMC. I really hope everything is ok.

I echo sparkley and baking, the midwife should not have used the Doppler at this stage of pregnancy.
In your shoes, I'd pay for a private scan as otherwise the worry is likely to cast a shadow over festive celebrations.

Nothing to suggest anything has gone wrong here. Far too early to use a Doppler and I'm shocked she would try. With my healthy pregnancy, my symptoms diseased about 8-9 weeks- that's when the placenta starts to take over and hormones stop running everything! If you can't wait, can you pay for a private reassurance scan?

Sorry koala that's really crap. Bad at any time of year but worse when you are surrounded by celebrations, particularly when you've had a similar loss this time of year in the past. I know you'll have to put a brave face on for DD but make sure you get some time for yourself to deal with the loss.

Nope, no chance. At 7 wks, we saw heartbeat and it appears to have stopped about 8 wks. I should be 11 today.

My heart goes out to you. I'm so so sorry. The shock must be awful. And it is extra shitty at this time of the year.
