HCG levels after early miscarriage

I had a large bleed on 6 November at 5w 5d and a scan on 7 November found no sign of a fetus / sac. I had blood drawn on 6 and 10 Nov and the HCG results were 5000ish and 1000ish respectively. I had a further scan on 14 Nov which found a completey empty uterus and bloods done today found HCG has dropped to 77. But clinic want me back for another test on Friday.
Does the HCG seem to be falling at the right rate? I know I can't expect cycles to start until it's close to zero. Thanks!

It has always taken me 3 weeks to get a negative HPT and after 2 weeks GP has monitored HCG. Since yours is low and falling I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.

Bit confused now as today I've had what seems to be cervical mucus, as like around ovulation...?

Had another test today and result was 33. Got to go back again in another week's time. So frustrating! Why is it taking so long to get back to zero?!!!

It's a hormone, it will have a half-life (the time taken for levels to fall by half is pretty consistent, related to rate of breakdown in the body) . It is halving every 2-3 days so in another week it should be

Thanks baking. I'm just frustrated with it dragging on and the ongoing hospital trips. No idea why they're being so cautious? This too shall pass!

Final test today and result was 7. So, no need to go back again to the EPU but seems HCG is falling slowly. When will it likely be back to zero? Should my period come a month from then?
