Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

What's happening in there

Hello!

I just went for an early pregnancy scan at 6 weeks 5 days because I've had some spotting and the scan showed an empty sac with no stem and a haematoma where the sac had implanted, they are treating it as a suspected misscarriage but say it could be early days so baby might not be visible yet. Has anyone else experienced this? I Don't know how to feel.

Hi selina it's v hard when a scan is inconclusive, you are left in limbo unsure whether your pregnancy will progress or not. A 6-7 week pregnancy should have a visible foetal pole growing at 1mm a day, with a heartbeat developing by the end of week 6. The problem is that a viable 5 week pregnancy could look just as you describe, so where there is uncertainty about dates (and there's always a chance you ovulated or implanted later than you thought) they should rescan in 7-10 days. When did you first get a positive hpt? What's the earliest you could realistically be?
I have to be honest and say when I have measured significantly behind my dates it has not ended well, but equally there are lots of posters with an inconclusive early scan who find it's all progressing nicely a week later. Here to handhold while you wait. Flowers

I had 2 positive pregnancy tests last Monday so 12 days ago, the first day of my last period was 20th September but I'm starting to hope that doesn't mean anything. There was no pole. Woke up crying this morning as the waiting is awful and there is nothing I can do.

Were you testing negative before that or had you not tested until then? Forgetting your LMP, if you took your first +ve test as 10-14 days post ov (the way pregnancy is dated assumes you always ovulate day 14 at "2weeks pregnant") you could be only 5 ish weeks along. Do you have long cycles, is it possible that you ovulated and conceived mid October rather than early October?
Like madrigals I would be inclined to prepare for the worst, hope for the best, but it depends if you are a glass half full or half empty type of person. It does feel just like limbo, very hard that normal life goes on all around you. Take care of yourself, if that means a duvet day watching rubbish telly and eating chocolate then do that.

Sorry if this is long,

I took 2 pg tests one after the other both positive on Monday 27th October, I felt sick during that week and very tired, had some spotting that I assumed were implantation bleeding. Since then no more symptoms and no sore breasts.

I have a son and during my pregnancy with him I had very sore breasts and was sick until 12 weeks. I'm quite bloated but other than that no symptoms.

I was on a strong course of antibiotics for cystitis before I found out I was pregnant and I'm wondering if that did anything? I've also been on the depo provera but stopped that in November 2013.

If you were only 5-6 weeks that's quite early for symptoms though. I'm afraid there really is no way of telling other than waiting it out. My fellow posters on the RMC threads have often wished for a little window or permanently attached ultrasound scanner to see what is happening in there....
Come back and let us know either way, we'd be delighted to congratulate you on a healthy bean, or here if you need us for an unhappy outcome.
