Misoprostol for miscarriage

I have some remaining pregnancy tissue in my uterus that apparently is not going to shift itself by a normal period so I have been offered the usual options (ERPC, MVA, misoprostol and waiting it out).

I had an ERPC before and it was OK, but it takes a whole day and I just don't fancy it. So I've chosen the misoprostol this time. I had a miscarriage and although it wasn't fun it wasn't that painful so I am hoping this will be similar. (I've been given strong painkillers anyway)

Has anyone had misoprostol? How was it for you?

Hi Dildals, I hope the misoprostol works for you and it is over quickly. I had it and it took about 6 hours for the baby/sac to pass, it was getting quite painful for about an hour up to this point (like very strong period pain due to mild contractions) but seemed to almost disappear once the baby had passed. I only had normal to mild period pains after whilst the placenta was coming out (I think it had broken up so i had lots of big clots and heavy bleeding after). So sorry for your loss and I hope this is over soon for you so you can at least move on physically. Xxx

I had misoprostol as medical management for a MMC just over 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately, a scan showed retained products and I had an ERPC this Monday just gone. The actual experience of the misoprostol was fine and works for many people, the only bit that bothered me was going to the loo as I got scared what I'd see.
Time scale wise, I'd say that the misoprostol takes the same amount of time as the ERPC as I was admitted for the day for it.
Take care, thinking of you Flowers

Thanks ladies. I already had my miscarriage, so the bits that would be scary to see have already been emitted! I have retained products after my natural miscarriage and this is what I am now trying to get rid off!

With my luck the misoprostol won't work ... but hopefully it will.

I can take the misoprostol at home, my hospital allows for that, so that makes it easier. I'll take it on Saturday.
