Could everything still be ok?

I went for an early scan on Thursday as bad cramping and instead of confirming all ok with pregnancy at 9wks5 days, they found a pregnancy measuring 5weeks 5 days with no HB... I have been told to come back in a week for another scan and to prepare for the worst.

I am refusing to give up hope, on the basis that my dates are all very rough estimates ( I have PCOS, and haven't had a period since I came off pill in February this year). I took a test on 3rd sept and got a BFN and then another on the 7th sept when I got my BFP. Is it possible, based on those dates that I could still only be 5 weeks 5 days pg and that the absence of a HB is simply because it is too early to detect?

Thanks x

So sorry you are having a rough time. I think that given your dates are so vague then for piece of mind the re scan is essential.

So sorry it's horrible waiting I will keep hoping for you Thanks

nic I am so sorry you are in limbo, it is very hard to deal with. The earliest you'd get a BFP is 10-14 days post ov (3.5-4 weeks pregnant) and a heartbeat is normally visible at 6-7 weeks, so it doesn't seem likely from when you got a positive that you could be less than 6 weeks. In many ways it would be easier if EPU staff would nail their colours to the mast and be honest, but they do see women whose dates are a whole month out so the policy is if an embryo measures around that 5-7 week stage where a HB should be just starting then they always rescan regardless of how sure you are about dates. I've been in a similar situation several times and it is horrible - you have my sympathy for a long week of waiting. Flowers

I fear that if you got a bfp over four weeks ago, it is very sadly highly unlikely that you'd only be 5+5 weeks pregnant:( I hope very much that I'm wrong though.

Thanks all. I fear there is no happy outcome in this, but small hope, all be it perhaps false hope, is getting me through the day at the moment. Let's just hope this week passes quickly, then I've got my answer, one way or the other xx

I had my follow up scan today and they confirmed a silent/missed miscarriage...I go back in to hospital on Monday for the "procedure". I dont really know the word to describe how I feel right now.... It's not relief, because that is not it at all, and I am still so desperately sad, but in some way, not having that time not knowing for definite, and having the time to have hope, means that I can deal with it now. Love and hugs to all you ladies going through this too xxx
