My LMC was July 1st...i went to planned parenthood and we took a urine test which came out negative. So I started on Birth control pills. The last week of the pill I was having intermittent pelvic pain but thought nothing of it. Two days off the pill I spotted brown and the next day I started cramping very badly and felt the worst lower back pain of my life. I was rolling around in pain. Then I was on the toilet(constipated) so when I was pushing I felt something start to slide out of my vagina(sorry to be graphic) I grabbed some toilet paper and caught the "thing" in my hand...it was not a clot. It was what I can only describe as raw chicken skin...it was too think and too large to be a clot. My first thought was I miscarried(i didnt know i was pregnant) i freaked out and dropped it in the toilet and a minute later another glob of something slid out of me. My cramping and pan stopped after that happened. I went to the er where a guy doctor did a urine pregnancy test and it was negative so he said i was probably just having a heavy period. I am so ticked off because I saw what came out of me and it was nothing i have ever seen before. Is it possible that it was such an early miscarriage that the hcg would not show up on the urine test? Shouldnt they have done a blood test? I am still bleeding but nothing else scarey looking has come out of me...whats going on????/

Doesn't sound like a period does it? Gosh, I really don't know. I guess what matters is what you feel, deep down, has happened because nothing a dr says is going to sit right unless it matches up with your gut feeling.

Think only a blood test would confirm at this early stage.

I am sorry for you.

I'm sorry, Ewingtara .

It does sound like a miscarriage.

Urine pg tests can give false negatives. Maybe a blood test now would put your mind at rest?

I'm really surprised tbh that they aren't monitoring you a bit more closely - I had a mc recently at home and got a couple of follow-up calls from the mc ward to check I wasn't bleeding too much, as it can be a sign of infection.

I would go to your doctor and tell him/her what happened and ask if they think a blood test would help now.

How long have you been bleeding for?

Yes I think what I need to do is go to an OBGYN.. I only went to the emergency room because I dont have health insurance but I will fork out money to get the truth. I still havent been able to react to what has happened because it hasnt been confirmed. Its an awful feeling to not know whats going on.

I really feel for you Ewingtara .

I know we moan about it all the time, but we are so lucky to have the NHS in Britain. It must be awful having to weigh up every time you want to see a doctor whether it's worth the money or not .

It really is terrible. I used to live in Buffalo New York and had a lot of friends in Canada...they have free health care too. In the U.S. It is so hard to get health benefits that dont cost a fortune. And in situations like this, its horrible to pay hundreds of dollars to doctors who cant seem to do anything right anyway!

it's vicious to ask women to pay for obstetric care

we get it all free here (ireland)

Ireland! Thats awesome. Seems like U.S is one of the only places that make their people pay to get treatment.

I've had a couple of m/cs and the doctors really aren't much help. Unless you're soaking through a really thick pad in an hour, you're fine, just leave it be, take pills as needed.

Thank you.Man this is tough.
