ERPC, no AF for 9 weeks, worried about Ashermans

Hi all,

Looking for some advice please, there may be some TMI parts to this post - apologies in advance but I just want to give all information.

Had ERPC 9 weeks ago due to mmc of my first pregnancy, which was discovered at a 10 week scan (we were so excited and couldn't wait - we paid for a private scan). Baby had died around 6-7 weeks and hadn't miscarried naturally for 3+ weeks so was advised ERPC was the best option. I was told that the operation was a success and I only bled for around two days following the proceedure. Since then, about 4 weeks post op I began to get period like cramps, performed some self-reflexology (I was getting desperate as I just want to be pregnant again!) and began to lightly spot (not enough for a pad, just when I wiped and a little spot in pants). That stopped after about 24 hours and I've had nothing since. Went to the doctor at 7 weeks post erpc and was told to wait at least another fortnight. I mentioned the possibility of ashermans syndrome and they had never heard of it Sad

Yesterday I had sever period-like cramps so was hopeful that my body was returning to normal. Instead of bleeding I had lots of clear / slightly tinted discharge and had to wear a panty liner. Nothing in the night, no pain this morning and no more discharge.

I'm definitely not pregnant, latest negative test was four days ago. I have no idea if I've ovulated.

I've just spent the last hour googling ashermans and found out that there is a 30% risk of this happening after erpc for mmc. If I'd have known this I would never have had the invasive proceedure and gone down the chemical route.

I feel incredibly hormonal (although this could just be worry / stress now) and I've been crying alot - I do get PMT so the symptoms are there but...

Can anyone offer any advice please? Desperate to get back to normal and begin TTC again.

Many thanks in advance.

It took my periods 4 months to return after my ERPC. I had period symptoms like you pain etc just no bleeding.

Apparently it can take a while for womb lining to build up again afterwards.

Thanks so much FranksBobot for putting my mind at ease, it's a horrible experience and sending my sympathies to anyone going through it.

hi op. Sorry to hear of your loss. I have been unfortunate enough to have 2 erpcs (and DD in between so not all doom and gloom). After #1 all was back to normal in 4 weeks. #2 took 11 long weeks. I visited the gp at 9 weeks and she did some tests which showed I was mid cycle). Even after af returned it was really really light and I too was concerned about ashermans. 8 months later, whilst waiting for an apt at the fertility clinic I got a bfp and am now 17 weeks! During this time I found great support from the lovely ttc after mc ladies (you will find the thread in Conception). Good luck for the future x

Just to update in case anyone else is in the similar, horrible situation. My AF finally arrived, I think the day after I posted. It was much heavier than normal and lasted 6 days (normally 3-4), and I felt really washed out by it and was incredibly hormonal in the weeks building up to it. Hoping for a BFP soon as I ovulated 11 days after. Thanks to HollyBen and FranksBobot for their replies Thanks, and hugs and good luck to anyone in a similar situation to me a few weeks ago.
