early miscarriage - no pain

I found out last week I was pregnant. Only about 4 weeks so early days. On Sunday I started bleeding, not really heavily but more than spotting and bright red fresh blood.

I rang the midwife on Monday who confirmed what I knew and told me it was most likely early miscarriage. However apart from a few cramps on Sunday I have had almost no pain. Continued to bleed until tonight where it has become much lighter.

I'm really confused as I expected much more period type cramps and everything I've read online says cramps are part of the miscarriage.

Has any one got any experience or advice?

rocking I'm sorry you've been through a loss. At 4+ weeks there really wouldn't be any ' tissue ' to speak of, just the normal womb lining, so it's likely to be similar to a period. As the sac grows the cervix has to open to expel it so later on a miscarriage tends to have an element of mini- labour to it, hence bad cramps. You should take a hpt to ensure it's negative now, the HCG should not take long to leave your system at 4 weeks. Hope you are coping ok emotionally. Flowers

Thank you baking Smile

I'm ok it was very early days so although it's disappointing I'm just trying to think that it just wasn't meant to be.

We already have DS so I feel very lucky to have him so focusing on the positives.

I usually have quite painful periods so I think that's why I was expecting cramps but the information you've said makes sense as to why I haven't had any.

Thank you for taking the time to respond Thanks
