TTC after miscarriage - some advice needed!

I've just had quite a frustrating time at the EAPU today.

Background is that I've had 2 MC in the last 9 months, both at 9-10 weeks and both measuring 5-6 weeks. I'm 38 and have 2 DCs (3 and 5). Due to my age, the EAPU allowed investigations after just 2 MC.

I was told on the phone that the 2 investigation blood tests had come back with low protein C which I was quite relieved about in a way - at least they knew what could be a cause and therefore could prescribe something to help. They also told me this was something that could develop over time (hence my 2 very healthy, no complication pregnancies and babies).

So I take an afternoon off to see the consultant as they requested, only to be told that the first test was borderline (69 units) and the 2nd was normal (77 units) (normal range is 70-130 units) so there's no intervention required, good luck etc and that fact that I already had 2 children was testament to the fact that there was no issue. The appointment was rushed to be honest and she didn't have any of my information with her - I felt quite upset having psyched myself up for some answers and a plan...so just wanted to get out of there.

I'm really conscious that due to my age and the fact I've had 2 MC already, my chances of having another are quite high aren't they? I don't know whether I want to go through it all again.

Would taking aspirin help at all if I were to get pregnant?

I have some health insurance and wondered whether it would be worth seeing a consultant for more detailed advice - is there any point? I feel that they can't really do anything but that if we try to get pregnant, the odds are against us.

Sorry lots of questions, not sure where to go with them so thought this was a good place to start.

Hi Dotty, I don't have the answers but the ladies on the recurrent miscarriage thread may be able to help.

Taking asprin unnecessarily in pregnancy can increase the risk of MC (based on the most recent advice I've had).
Do you have a 'sticky blood' condition?

no - at least I don't think I do. All I've been told is one low protein C. The doctor said she would write to my doctor to prescribe me aspirin if I get pregnant "if it made me feel better about things"????
