Welcome everyone - pull up a chair! A thread for anyone who has suffered multiple miscarriages and is in need of information, moral support, tea or sympathy. Newbies very welcome.

Can we start the thread with a recap of where we are all up to again, please?

Hi Twilight, I didn't find that the coil hurt. It made me feel a bit 'bleugh' and unsexy, but I couldn't feel it as such. It will be out soon enough. That part of the procedure is less than comfortable, but straight forward and quick. :)

Boozle80 · 03/09/2014 08:19

What does the coil do oneday? Xx

twilightstruggle · 03/09/2014 08:55

Just - thanks for the reassurance. That assessment of discomfort sounds much more reasoned and bearable than my friend's!

Boozle - I think its just something that prevents complications (like scar tissue) post-surgery on the uterus.

Longest - I won't get there much earlier because of trains but can loiter afterwards if you and DD have time.

Sleeping - gosh that is a long time. Good luck with whatever you decide. How are you getting on?

longestlurkerever · 03/09/2014 09:05

Great. Will look out for you! We will be the noisy whirlwind the waiting room and my real name is Helen. Meant to be going to meet a friend after but she won't mind if we're a bit late.

TinyTear · 03/09/2014 09:41

A HB and measuring 8w...
Not out of the woods yet but bang on dates.
I can't stop crying.

charlieis30 · 03/09/2014 09:47

yay tiny! i am so so pleased for you xx

tannyLoo · 03/09/2014 10:37

Tiny that's amazing news. I'm crying too!

Catlover2014 · 03/09/2014 10:39

Great news Tiny. Whooop whooop!!! When is your next scan? Hugs xxx

Catlover2014 · 03/09/2014 10:41

How many weeks are you now Tanny? X

TinyTear · 03/09/2014 10:57

I don't have a next scan booked! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

EPU discharged me and now I have filled out the form for the regular antenatal so next will be a 12w one...

tempting to either call EPU or pay for a private at 10w... but on the other hand need to save up money as might want to do harmony...

longestlurkerever · 03/09/2014 11:03

Brilliant Tiny! So delighted. Feeling quite teary myself! What is harmony?

Ididntseeitsoitdidnthappen · 03/09/2014 11:16

Brilliant news tiny

I've been to my GP today and she was lovely and has booked me an appointment at the recurrent mc clinic at the hospital in the next town for, and this is scarily efficient for the NHS, Monday morning Shock

bakingtins · 03/09/2014 11:19

tiny that is fantastic news, I'm so thrilled for you! Grin Grin Grin

ididnt great that you will be seen so promptly!

Harmony is a non-invasive blood test for Downs and other trisomies. that way, only if that is high risk then you can have amnio or cvs

twilightstruggle · 03/09/2014 11:25

Fantastic news Tiny. Smile

Ididnt - also great news. And that is amazingly efficient.

Longest - my phone is out of battery so if we don't find each other just go and meet your friend and don't hang about. Though hopefully it'll just work out!

Ididntseeitsoitdidnthappen · 03/09/2014 11:28

Thanks. I'm now really nervous as DH can't get the time off work and I have no idea what to expect at this appointment.

What will be discussed? Will they be pissed off he can't be there?

I've been referred for ultrasounds by my GP for gallstones/pancreas/uterus. I already know i have fibroids but they're not in a place that will affect my fertility apparently. While I'm pleased it's happening so fast I'm now extremely nervous

bakingtins · 03/09/2014 11:43

Jot down details of your losses and anything you think may be relevant from your medical history and your husband's. They may also ask about family history of fertility problems, miscarriage or stillbirth and any relevant diseases (diabetes, thyroid, clotting issues, autoimmune disease) so it's worth having thought/asked about that. Most tests will be on you anyway, the only thing they might want DH for is one tube of blood for karyotyping (checking for any genetic problems) but his GP can easily arrange to draw blood for this if they need it. You need to ask what they'll test for, when you get results, what support they can offer you in a future pregnancy, if you need to have a break from TTC whilst waiting for results.
Write down what you want to ask and take a list of questions with you, it's easy to be overwhelmed and forget something in the appointment.

Ididntseeitsoitdidnthappen · 03/09/2014 11:51

Thanks.

I've been a chicken and gone and rung the clinic and got the appointment out back to the following Monday at the end of the working day so DH can come along. I know it's going to delay things but I don't want to go in there alone I know I'll forget something.

I'll make a list of all those questions and ask my family for history. I know one of my mums sisters lost 5 and another had uterine and ovarian cancer so our gynae history on my maternal side is pretty shit really

bakingtins · 03/09/2014 11:55

Probably better - the moral support will be helpful, and gives you a little more time to get your thoughts organised. Good luck with it - be sure to report back.

Congrats Tiny !! Another one for Coventry team :)

tannyLoo · 03/09/2014 12:53

Ididnt that is great news. There's nothing like starting to take control of things again!

Cat I'm 14 weeks! Can't quite believe it, and of course as soon as that feeling kicks in, so does the fear! My consultant has offered me an extra scan next week, so I'm going to take it, and then I'll be discharged from his care if all is well. My downs screening came back fine, so that's another thing ticked off.

cloudjumper · 03/09/2014 12:54

Yay, go tiny! Brilliant news.

sleepingflower · 03/09/2014 13:58

Hi all, I've managed to get an appointment for the erpc on saturday and I have an appointment with the consultant tomorrow. A lot better than waiting for another week. I've been forcing myself to keep busy today as DH had to go into the office and this is the first day by myself. I've ended up cooking and making loads of cakes, so will end up rather fat!

Doing the school run this morning was hard, ended up in tears a couple of times. I just can't bear to see pregnant women or babies. I know it's irrational. I'm not looking forward to doing the pick up, I may go at the last minute so I don't have to linger in the playground. If someone asks me how I am I'll end up telling them and will be in bits again!

EffinIneffable · 03/09/2014 14:09

tiny fab news, it's so great to hear positive stories here. And 14 weeks tanny so exciting! And twilight glad your procure went well.

Welcome to all the new ladies, and so sorry you find yourselves here. This thread moves so fast, sorry I can't keep up and namecheck you all.

I'm still waiting for a BFN following my 2nd MC - planning to test next on Friday which will be 3 weeks since I stopped bleeding. No NHS tests for me as "only" 2 in a row, but I am 36 and been ttc since Feb 2013. I had basic fertility tests (thyroid, progesterone, FSH, LH, etc) which were apparently 'normal'. Are there any other basic GP tests that would be worth trying to get do you think? Does anyone know if there's an RMC in Bristol? (Not that I'm going there yet, but I'd like to suss out my options ...)

And I'm starting to think about taking conception vitamins for getting back on the ttc rollercoaster, and thinking about what other supplements etc might help for fertility health. Any suggestions? I don't fancy the 'just in case' aspirin route without diagnosis of a clotting issue (as I think just's blog a while back discussed - thanks for that, very interesting), but thinking of upping my folic acid as I don't think there are negative effects of increased dose that.

tannyLoo · 03/09/2014 14:38

Hi Effin, I come from Bristol, but I'm now in Frome and use Bath RMC consultant, but he is a one man band, but Baking is Bristol based so might know more. I'm sure there's something.

I took a whole load of things to get back into the swing of things. Yes to high dose folic acid, I also took maca root, omega complex, royal jelly, vits C and D and B complex. I also had/continue to have acupuncture. Don't know if any of it helped, but it certainly felt beneficial, even if it was only placebo...
