Miscarriage and told neck of womb closed tmi

To cut a long story short I ended up in hospital overnight due to miscarriage bleeding and pain getting out of control. I was checked on leaving today to see if the neck of the womb was closed and it was (up it was partially open day before). The labour style pains had come back but they said that was normal. I've just had an instant need to push, ran to the toilet. I made the mistake of looking and sadly something was there. I don't even know if I am asking anything here, but I was wasn't mentally prepared for it. Is this normal? I know it probably is. I'm not in pain because I'm on a very high dose of codeine.

I'm sorry spritzer it is a horrible thing to go through and information given by the hospital often leaves you woefully unprepared. It sounds like you have passed the pregnancy sac - your body goes through a mini- labour complete with contractions to expel it and this often involves heavy bleeding and large clots. Most people find once the sac has passed the bleeding settles down, but you are likely to bleed ( more like a period, though there may be clots) for another 7-10 days. Hopefully the hospital have told you to use pads, rather than tampons, take pain relief if you need it and contact them if you feel feverish or unwell. You should have some sort of follow up to ensure the miscarriage is completed, either a scan or been told to take a HPT in 2 weeks and contact them if it's still positive.
It can be a very shocking experience physically. It may help you to read the " tips for coping thread" to recognise that what you are going through is normal. I've found it's only after the worst of it is over physically that I can come out of survival mode and start to grieve, so you may find it hits you emotionally in the next few days. There's someone here to listen however you are feeling.

Spritzer I am so sorry for your loss. I am surprised they didn't talk your options over and ask if you wanted a medically managed option. I can totally understand how traumatic that must have been, particularly if you weren't expecting it. I'm so sorry xxx

I am so very sorry for your loss. I'm also sorry the hospital didn't offer you more help and advice - from my first mc I think that happens more often than it should.

Hi ladies I myself am going through a miscarriage I found out 2 weeks ago that my baby had passed away at 8 weeks 4 days I should of been 9 weeks I went to the hospital again today and the baby is at the neck of my womb does that mean I'm going to miscarry soon..?? Also I'm sorry that your going through this it's emotionally and physically painful 😭 xxx
