Bleeding, pain and 'inconclusive' scan

Feeling very low today and would appreciate anyone talking to me - I'm 6 wks pregnant and have been having light brown spotting with occasional red spotting for a couple of weeks. Was booked in for a scan today, but first thing this morning had a much heavier red bleed, much like the start of a period, and now have pain that feels like period pains. I had a MC 6 months ago at 5 weeks and the symptoms were the same.

The scan today was inconclusive - they could see a sac but no heartbeat, but couldn't confirm if it's a definite MC as it's possible that it's too small to see anything. So booked in for another scan next week. But feeling pretty hopeless, as the pain feels like I'm having a period.

Just wondering if anyone has had similar symptoms - red bleeding (quite a lot) and period type pains - and still gone on to have the baby? Should just accept that it's another MC?

Sorry zoo being in limbo whilst suspecting the worst is pretty horrid. You are just at the cut-off where they expect to see a HB, but nobody is going to say it's all going wrong before 7 weeks as it can develop at 6-7 weeks. Did they see a fetal pole?
Bleeding can be fine, cramps can be normal for early pregnancy, the combination is not often good news IME. Prepare for the worst and we will hope for the best on your behalf.

Sorry to hear you are in limbo!
I had a massive bleed with my baby at 7+1 weeks (I later lost him at 19weeks)

I mean I lost a lot of blood very red, It was pouring out of me (Tmi sorry)
Cramp's are very common in pregnancy 1st tri, but with blood and cramps is not often good news I am sorry to say, I do hope that you get your answer soon, and fingers crossed it's good news for you!

Thank you bakingtins and MrsChocolateCupcake. I'm assuming the worst, as later on Tuesday I had much heavier bleeding, more cramps and a large clot ... but the uncertainty is still bothering me. After that day, the bleeding has reduced, and although it's still there, it's light and no more clots. My last MC was over much quicker, and there's a small part of me that's still wondering if I could still be pregnant. The clot can't be a good sign though, can it?

IWroteToTheZoo - sorry to hear you're going through this. And it's awful to be in a bit of a state of limbo and not know. To be honest, it doesn't sound good given the red blood, clots and cramps. I guess the best thing is to prepare for the worst, even though there's still a chance everything might be okay.

I had two MCs last year. It's miserable. One feels like bad luck, one of those things, horrible but you know it happens. The second one just feels like a kick in the teeth. It's just not fair.

I want you to know that I know what you're going through and I really have my fingers crossed for you. It's a rollercoaster and not a fun one.

Take care and good luck. Keep us posted with your news.
