IVF referral after miscarriage

Hi all. I am a long time lurker who doesn't post often; hoping someone can answer my query? Apologies if this has been asked/answered before.

I am going to my GP tomorrow to see if I can get a referral for fertility investigation/treatment. I am 35, have been TTC for 3 years as of this month. Originally had a referral and was waiting for a first appointment this time last year, but got a BFP literally the weekend before the appointment, so cancelled....but then went on to have a miscarriage at 12 weeks in May.

My question is: will the fact that I have been TTC in total for 3 years / I am 35+ mean I should be granted another referral without a problem? Or will my miscarriage 8 months ago be counted as a sign I am ok and therefore need to keep trying for longer? Will my miscarriage 're-set' the clock, ie will I need to keep trying for another year before I can beg for a referral?

Hi st4rfish. I'm so sorry you lost your baby, it must be particularly hard when the pregnancy was so hard won. I don't know whether your BFP 'resets' the clock, but I think the guideline for over 35s is see GP if you've been trying for 6m without success, so if you've been TTC again since May hopefully that will count. I hope you get someone sympathetic tomorrow and get your referral.

Thanks for the reply Bakingtins, much appreciated. The GP was sympathetic and has promised a referral, but only after we have had all the tests we have already had (day 3 and 21 bloods and husband's SA) done again. I did have to argue the case though; she kept going on about how at least I had managed to get pregnant once, although it is hard to look on this positively as it ended in MMC. Feel like the past year has just been wasted!
I've read elsewhere on here I think that you have been successful again after recurrent miscarriage, so best wishes!
