Sorry for asking question but how long does bleeding /cramping last after surgical op for mmc? I have mostly stopped bleeding after bleeding quite a lot yesterday but am having cramps quite low down in uterus rather than period style pains and cramps after the op yesterday
I'm worried this isn't normal and the bleeding is still to come?
When I has my second loss I had tablets but bled for two months so this seems to have gone from one extreme to the other
Can anybody help?

I had spotting for about a week but only enough to wear a panty liner. I found the cramps worse on second day and third day. so took some panadine forte (the hospital discharged me with it). I probably could have managed the cramps without the panadine in a physical sense but on mental level I need something to stop hurting so it was a relief to have everything a bit dulled. Very sorry for your loss.

My cramps were at their worst days 2 and 3 after the op - think its because they give you a suppository of something very strong so you're not physically hurting as much immediately after the op.

I hardly bled after the op, then a week later I had a few days of bleeding - like a light period but enough to need a pad. All normal apparently - the nurse said my body had probably finally cottoned on to what had happened.

I'm sorry for your loss. Take some strong painkillers if you need them, and rest as much as you can Thanks

As the others said above, I had a little spotting on and off for about 10 days. I had my ERPC on Monday 18th Nov. I've had a little more bleeding recently and my GP reckons that my periods are starting up again. The low down cramps are maybe due to your uterus contracting back to it's normal size - depends what stage you were at. I too had low down cramps and was told that because I was at 12 1/2 weeks when I had the op my uterus needed to return to its normal position and size. Hope this helps and cramps ease today. A hot water bottle was heavenly last weekend!
