When will I start to feel better?

Hi Ladies
I had two 5day blasts transferred 19th Oct and got my BFP 29th October. I tested with a Clearblue digital which showed 1-2 weeks. Five days later I tested again and got 2-3 weeks.
Last Friday (I will have been 5+4 weeks) I tested again and got 3+ weeks. I had an early scan booked for 20th Nov when I would have been 7+2.
Unfortunately I began to bleed Friday morning, it was very heavy and I passed lots of clots but hardly any cramping. It only seemed to last an hour but I knew I had miscarried. I went to the EPAU who confirmed it was likely. They checked my cervix which they said was closing. They wouldn't scan me as they said it was too early but advised me test in 2 weeks time and let them know the outcome. They said I would bleed for a few days, however the bleeding stopped that afternoon.
It started again yesterday morning, pretty much the same but not as heavy and still with clots. I tested again and the HPT still shows 3+.
I rang the EPAU who said if the bleeding gets heavy to go back, if not to stick to the original plan. The bleeding had stopped again by lunchtime.
I know my body has been through a lot but I still feel horrendously sick, get dizzy if I get too quickly and generally feel unwell. I'm housebound too as I'm worried I'll start bleeding again when I'm out somewhere.
I really thought the HCG levels would have dropped by now as I know that's probably what's making me feel nauseous.
Has anybody been through something similar? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance Thanks
Micky11

Hi Micky I would go to EPU and get a scan, particularly since you feel unwell. Another 8 days is a long time to be wondering what is going on. It's possible to bleed quite heavily and for everything to be fine, though you sound quite certain you've miscarried. Another possibility is you have lost one twin but one is hanging on in there. Lie if necessary!
Fingers crossed for a good outcome.

Hello - really sorry to hear you are going through this.
When I miscarried at about 5 weeks I bled very heavily on the Friday and by the Monday had a negative HPT. Your HCG levels are still pretty high if you miscarried on Friday and are still getting 3+
It's true that a scan might be inconclusive, but I would head down to EPU and ask for a scan. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks for your replies ladies.
After Friday I was convinced that was it. When I did the HPT yesterday (after promising DH I'd wait til this Friday at least - but that was before I bled again), I was expecting it to say 1-2 or 2-3 weeks so the 3+ was a bit of a shock.
The EPU were quite clear they wouldn't scan me and dismissed the HPT result saying thats why they tell you to wait two weeks before POAS after mc.
As you can imagine my head is all over the place!
Bakingtins - my DH thinks there's a glimmer of hope and he also mentioned one bean could still be there. I just dont want to have to let him down again..
cottoncandy - I thought the HCG level was still high too, esp 3 days after such a big bleed.
I've spoken to DH and I am going to test again Friday when I would be 6+4, if the HPT still shows 3+ I will try to get a private scan over the weekend.
I appreciate your kind words ThanksThanks

It's often easier on you to prepare for the worst. Allow us to hope for the best on your behalf. Whatever happens you have not let anyone down because none of this is your fault.

Thank you Bakingtins xx

Hello
I just wanted to update on what has been happening over the past week.
I did a HPT on Wed which still said 3+ weeks pg. Last Thursday I began to bleed really heavily again and ended up back in EPU. I would have been 6+3. After 7 hours, the midwife told us I had passed some pregnancy tissue and confirmed a miscarriage.
They tested my blood levels and my iron was low so they sent me home with iron tablets and advised bed rest. I have a scan booked for this Friday to make sure my uterus is clear.
I am not bleeding as such but there is red blood there when I wipe (sorry if TMI). Yesterday I did another HPT, and the clearblue digital is still saying 3+ weeks. Now I am worried that something a bit sinister is going on Sad
My head is telling me that if the pregnancy started failing at 5+4 when I initially started bleeding, and the miscarriage was confirmed 6 days later.. then surely my HCG levels should have dropped by now??
I find it extremely impossible to believe that I may just have lost a twin and still be pregnant after the events of the past week, but I am totally confused.
Does anyone have any thoughts? I suppose I only have 4 more days to wait to find out what is going on, and me and DH haven't got any hopes up after all that has happened but I can't help trying to find similar stories on the internet to reassure me this is 'normal'. As you can imagine, it is difficult to think about any else Confused
Thanks

Were you not scanned at EPU, Mickey? Seems a bit odd when you had 2 embryos transferred even if they are pretty sure you MC one not to scan you. We can't tell you what is going on, but we are here to hold your hand until your scan on Friday, and afterwards, whatever the outcome.

Thanks Bakingtins. They said they would not scan me as if there's still blood in my uterus they wouldn't see much anyway. It must be their protocol to scan from 8 weeks onwards when it is more likely to see heartbeat etc. I assume that regardless of whether they scanned me last week or not, my treatment plan would be the same. I guess I only have 3 more days to find out what's going in and hopefully try to move forward from all of this.
I truly appreciate your kind words Thanks

Hope you get some clarity on Friday. It's horrible to be left in limbo.

CallingAllEngels · 20/11/2013 18:55

Being in limbo is horrid micky.

Just to share my experience...I had bleeding at 6w mid-october, suspected mc. Rang mw who told me to wait a week before takingpg test. Was positive so scanned...nothing. my hcg kept gpoing up for the next 2 weeks. It has only just started coming down now and I'll be monitored till it hits 0. I still felt really rubbish for 3weeks after the initial bleed but am feeling slightly better now.

Every mc is so different (my last one was quick, ng hpt within 2 weeks). Makes it so hard to deal with...not knowing what to expect.

It's soul destroying and frustrating to not know what's going on. As baking said, we're here to hold your hand. Good luck Friday.

Hi ladies
I had my scan today which confirmed there is still quite a bit of pregnancy tissue in my uterus. I have decided to wait to see if it comes away naturally & have another scan in 2 weeks.
I just wanted to say thank you to you all for your kind words and comfort during this difficult time Thanks
